Lately I’ve encountered a lot of smurf accounts while playing and it makes me wonder, how can this be stopped? There is no real way at the moment since a new account being created today cannot be proven to be a smurf (especially when there are still people need coming into the game) so how can it stopped?
Just report them, blizz don’t care at all of this problem.
I tend to encounter most smurfs when I play DPS. So possibly playing support could help. Smurf supports aren’t as common and against DPS smurf as support, you can just focus on staying alive and don’t have to take as much risk trying to outplay the enemy smurf DPS.
Diffing the enemy smurf tank or DPS in general is a lot harder for me though when I’m playing tank or DPS.
Just don’t allow them to kill you.
It’s very hard to die in OW if you’re good at specifically making sure you don’t die. Deaths come from aggression.
I’m pretty sure they’re afraid of orange cats.
As long as Blizz allows multiple accounts per player, smurfs will remain an ongoing issue. After all, how else are suspended / banned players supposed to keep playing?
Just take comfort in the fact that smurfs don’t only exist on the enemy team, they’re on yours as well. It’s not this lopsided issue of “why does this only happen to me?!” that too many players make it out to be.
I suggest you to afk the games with smurfs in it. In end you lose even if you try. Just don’t feed their ego and report em at the end of the match
Oh no, they do care, only it’s not a problem to them, it’s player numbers.
They care? How? When? I missed this patch?
Next what?
Pve release?
With the power of friendship, anything is possible.
It’s really important to define what a smurf is. To me, a smurf is someone who throws games to get to a lower SR so that they can then stop throwing and dominate matches.
Someone making a new account is not a smurf, its an alt account. They will dominate for a while and within a dozen games or so they will be playing against people who stomp them. The matchmaker can figure out people’s skill levels pretty quickly
I dont think there are as many smurfs as people report, I’ve made a new account to learn a new hero and started gold4 and the games are chill. I think if anything its just player performance varies a lot.
If I’ve eaten recently, had nicotine, feel well regulated in every way, am focused, know what I’m actively trying to improve on and am warmed up - I’m ready to dominate the lobby
If I’m all scrambled for whatever reason, I will hard feed and lose many games in a row.
I’d say my skill range from when I’m playing poorly to well can be as much as like dia5 to master5 on my main role and hero. I can carry a game that I would have hard fed if I had played it a few hours earlier when I wasn’t focused.
Its definitely at least 3 rank divisions I would say
Send the replay to blizzard. Let them go thru the matches and see what is what.
So I’m assuming competitive for this.
The biggest thing is team play, overwatch is a team game so start using the mic and calling.
Smurfs will punish you for doing the “wrong” thing. But if your whole team does it then it’s a strategy.
It is, you just have to try harder.
Let me ask you something: I fought a smurf doomfist, and my team didn’t know to stop standing far away from me (the tank) and making themselves obvious targets for doom. Is that really Doom’s fault? Of course, this was in Quick Play, so personally I don’t think the term “smurf” even applies there.
Quickplay, or all of the unranked modes really, is for everyone who wants a match fast and/or regardless of quality. What, are people who are good at the game just not allowed to queue?
I don’t think there’s a report category for smurfing. Oddly enough, there seems to be a report category for “feeding”. I never knew this until a streamer was reporting a cheater and I happened to see a category for “feeding”. My question is, how do you even know if someone is intentionally feeding or just playing badly?
They know they get stomped at their main account so they have to sink to lower levels to get kills.
Sadly, unlike in MR, there is no option to report smurfing. Most competitive games have a smurfing problem, but I guess you just have to get over it and hope for better luck next time!
Just try not to get triggered. Completely ignore them. Any sign of a response (including triggered gameplay) will make them happy. If they say ‘EZ’ or something similar, you can try reporting them.
Remember, they’re cowards who are too afraid to improve their rank, so they bully people who aren’t familiar with the game. You are morally superior to them in every way.
Btw I am assuming you are talking about Comp mode.
Symm tp, mercy goin frontline when whole team is dead just to give the kill, jumping off the map, etc
one who play ‘‘bad’’ to me for example is the tank diving in Narnia behind los and expect heals.
Most likely, you, like me, have a low rating (gold, for example). My friends and I partially solve the smurf problem by taking away an option that can strengthen them, regardless of who plays it - we ban Mercy. Yes, it sounds like some kind of conspiracy. But whenever we see a smurf who does x2-x3 damage and kills than everyone else, we ask ourselves the question: “Imagine him under a pocket and resurrections…”
I can say that now when I play solo I can’t ban Mercy. And when I get a game against a smurf - he immediately gets a personal pocket-bot and game turns into a nightmare
