Anyone that’s played even a couple games knows that the support changes are inconsequential. Is blizzard really this stupid or are they intentionally trying to sandbag this game?

At a certain point after so many easily avoided terrible decisions, you just have to accept the brain drain is real and their inability to admit and rectify mistakes has killed OW.

This game is a last ditch cash grab from a squandered IP. Take the money quick, let it die, then use that money to fund the next thing.
Pretty good result from the canned ‘Project Titan’. Turns out you can polish a turd, and make loads of money from doing so.
Im of the opinion that 5v5 is overall better but i have to agree that the way they have balanced things so far is very dissapointing. They over buffed doomfist, i love playing him but this is ridicolous. They nerfed junkerqueen when she needed a buff. They buffed sojourn in highrank when she needed a nerf as much as doomfist original needed a buff. They removed the dps passive Speedboost, moving genji from B to C tier because they didnt revert any of the big nerf. And even though i dont play much support myself i understand youre dissapointed because what they gave was barely anything. 5 more ammo on mercy is just a faceslap, as if that will do anything except for the very few battle mercys in bronze.
Well, I think the dev team honestly believes that supports are OP. They are really struggling to understand why so many people are finding them underwhelming and/or unfun. There’s something the community is seeing that they simply aren’t grasping.
Not sure how to bridge this divide.
Ever played Heartstone? You can clearly see that Blizzard try their hardest to suck at balancement changes.
I believe the developers are really trying but the upper management is clueless.
It feels like there are a lot of different teams working on this game but they don’t communicate well or something like that.
Not to mention many of the OG developers left. Working on code that you haven’t written yourself can be extremely frustrating.
The problem i think comes from the dev team probably testing changes in closed testing then ignoring user feedback once they release changes.
If they want to make it fun to play support than they need to make it so that any supprt can potentially win 50% of fights agaist flankers solo or give the support heroes more maneuverability when they are solo.
I think no matter what they do to support people will still cry.

The time you have spent and possibly unfortunately will spend in the future is completely wasted and your investment to the game is worth a big fat zero (0). They don’t care about you. They don’t care about any of us. They don’t care about the health of the game or how fun the game is. They don’t care about any of that schaider. All they care about is having a low cost live service that pumps them money from idiot morons falling prey to their battle pass trap
That is because the driving factor for the whole company right now is they mobile market that is full of heinous designs and customer juicing methods that makes up for 4/5ths of their revenue, so all they pretty much care about is expanding that practise over to the PC platform gradually over the years while using the art team and their IP as a trojan horse to spoon feed that garbage to the most degenerate customers, no matter the cost of shame that has completely ruined their reputation and even if the devs themselves wanted to individually make changes for the better: they won’t allow it
So overall if you’re a masochist who likes being in an abusive relationship, these games are perfect for you. Otherwise get ready to get chronic malding and self-loathing from huffing that copium like your life depends on it

Support can heal have healing passive and be as strong as flanker whose gonna be a DPS afterall… so support damage = DPS damage. What’s the point of playing dps/flanker? I know support is at bad spot right now. But prople not understanding the basic triangle. Support need mobility not damage… mobility so thry can stop heal and escape because you are not aware that in order to kill a team you have to kill a support so their damage or tank do not get flooded with heal. If you arr going to make support as strong as a flanker this mean have less chance of flanker to kill a support in a freaking backline which is risky in itself. Congo infinite healing and no one ia dying untill you pop off some ult in it.

They are usually (maybe around 80% of the time) very careful with nerfs and buffs, even doing it in multiple steps sometimes. They are afraid of doing some kneejerk stuff, which I think is understandable.
The goof-up is that they were practically hyping support changes for the entire past two months. Reminds me of “meaty changes for Symmetra”.
Supports have no real ability to take pressure off themselves while performing their duties. It’s not fun being the center of attention all the time. With the removal of a tank the devs actively knew that supports were going to take the hit in their overall defensiveness and were okay with that.
You wanna know how to fix supports? Move their passive to the DPS role and give doomfist’s active (shields on damage done) as a support passive and nerf healing across the board. That’s how you fix supports in overwatch 2.
It’s really not a good game- it’s way overcomplex to balance it.
Depends on the hero. Some do have that ability in one way or another. It’s not very universal. I don’t think they should be totally scotfree to fully support their team while easily prevent or kill off divers, flankers or other pressures either. I think in role based game they have to make the choice of switching off from supporting and going into a fight mode; and some can/do still provide some support whether through heal or utility while doing so. I think the value of supporting a team mate is not as obvious as an elimination but does have big impact on a fight, its duration, and chances given to the team mate to perform. It’s one of the reasons why players are pressured to focus and eliminate the support in the first place, not because it’s easy, but because sometimes they make it hard to get through dps and tanks that are getting well supported, so, it must be disrupted. I feel people are at a loss at how to feel about supports because they were so used to the simple role of standing behind at least one tank and pumping heals. It’s hard to get used to and switch to the fight-or-flight mode so frequently especially when the dps tools they have are not always as effective as the strictly dps hero.
What you’re suggesting is that when supports deal damage, they gain shields and moving them to what is essentially a pseudo-dps/support role. While I’m indifferent to the idea, and I think it would have been more interesting in a no-role limits version of the game, I don’t think support purists would appreciate that idea. I mean Mercy players alone want like +5 heals on their hero (60 is the magic number for some reason). Making them fight and slashing heal rates, would probably upset some players.
60 is the magic number because mercy was supposed to be a main healer and anything below sixty can’t keep a tank up

They are really clueless here. They even said they were doing changes for support for season 2 and did nothing. Their only idea seems to be to release more support heroes, that tells me they don’t know how to fix the current ones. But it will be a year before we get another support hero.
