I think he can be good but I’'ve played against several and they spend the whole time just being annoying trying to stall. I don’t play heroes I find that annoying - like ball, junk, pharah, sombra. Some heroes just suck the fun out of games and ball is one of them.
I’ve seen a few do really well in ranked, up until the enemy picked sombra at which point ball suddenly started to get absolutely melted whenever he got interrupted mid-dive. Definitely doesn’t help sombra’s super meta right now.

He’s great if dps can follow up on your pile drives. Otherwise, he’s just giving ult charge to the enemies and delaying the inevitable.

Today I’ve seen multiple Hammonds in QP. Perhaps it’s hamster day?

this is just not true, east region in owl played ball a couple of tournaments ago. its just they made sombra broken and guess what sombra does?
I hope they don’t make him good. Some heroes need to be bad for the sake of the game being fun.

people can use this argument for making ball bad because people can’t aim to kill him, but then if you use this argument against actual anti-fun, corny characters like junkrat, reaper, sym, then you’re being unreasonable. makes sense!
Ball was only tolerable in OW1 because he had decent counters. But now brig and cowboy are neutered and ball’s max health increased he is horrible to play against. Only sombra and to a lesser degree ana can do much against him. Ball rarely dies in the games I see him unless he is just being stupid. And he can stall for a long time, especially if he has a lucio to go to the payload/robot with to heal and also stall.
Games which are just about stalling, like the last point of a payload or 2CP, but the entire game repeating over and over, are the worst types of game in OW.

He’s unplayable, if he’s in your game switch to Mei to stop his full momentum from fuill speed to -50% of his normal speed in literally 0.1 seconds of your primary fire. It’s INSTANT, it’s absolutely dumb.
Ball can not be played if a Mei is there as the momentum loss is no longer gradual, it’s like hitting a brick wall. Stops you dead.
I’ve played a couple games with Hammy and thought he still felt pretty great.
I think lacking a second tank does give him way less room for error though, and Sombra can still shut him down pretty hard.
Come to a custom game so I can show you what a Mei can do to him… You will never touch him again.

I play him as my Tank main in Unranked (I probably won’t ever play Tank in Comp cause that’s too much pressure.)
I have been doing generally decent with him there. I don’t think he’s terrible, but he definitely relies on your teammates knowing how he works so they can follow through on your dives.
Orisa and Sombra’s existence definitely makes playing him a challenge, but in my Unranked experience, it hasn’t been too awful.
Definitely think some buffs would be nice, or maybe just nerfs to his hard counters.
