Introducing Battle for Olympus: A limited-time free-for-all of mythic proportions

Not even just kinda not fun. It’s extremely unfun for all but the sweatiest players. I don’t play this game to solo, I play this game to play with friends. This mode is terrible and I wish it weren’t even IN overwatch to begin with. But not only did they double down on taking the worst mode in the game and calling it an “event” to sell skins, they have horrible challenges that will be a terrible grind. Hell it requires 15 1st place wins to finish ONE hero’s challenges. This event is unfun in every way and Blizzard has made overwatch 2 worse by putting it in.

I expected something really interesting.
However, it turned out to be an unplayable advertisement for new skins, and forcing to play THIS mode a lot for something not from the shop.
P.S. Do you ready for the Hog statue on Illios?

No seriously who’s idea was it to make us earn eliminations through ults? WHEN ITS A HORRIBLE KILL STEAL FEST JUST LIKE REGULAR FFA? IT’S BASICALLY IMPOSSIBLE FOR CERTAIN HEROES TO WIN

don’t give them ideas.

you know things are dire when half the comments are complaining about how long it will take to unlock the generous reward of a line of text under your user name.

It’s not that difficult to complete the voice challenge in one sitting.

I’m not farming the titles; that is indeed a waste of time.

Everything about this mode/event is a joke.

  • Which heroes are included
  • The additional features and powerups for most characters
  • Map selection
  • Rewards
  • Skin costs
  • Promoting this as a super cool mode when its not

The only good thing is the music and sound design

Blizzard, why?
A FFA event where the only skin-related reward is one that longtime players most likely already have, and everything else costs upwards of $20 each? Yikes.

When I first saw the Reinhardt minotaur skin advertised, I thought I’d break down and get it. But it turns out that I still balk at dropping that much money on a skin, not when I still remember what it was like to earn skins during events in OW1.

The sad truth is, I haven’t seriously played OW in a month now, I skipped out on the Winter event altogether, and I’m not really missing this game. There’s just not a whole lot left to urge me to play. Your drive to monetize this game has done a lot of damage, in my opinion, and this is just the latest example.

This should have been a PVE event and we should have been able to earn some of the new skins through gameplay.

Count me as another disappointed, disaffected, disillusioned, discouraged, and slowly disappearing old player.

You can’t play this with friends and family?

So how much do you get paid to shill for Blizz every minute you spend on the forum?

I played it once but was disappointed that none of my preferred heroes are available to play in this mode (Orisa, Reaper, Soldier, Sombra, Ana, Moira). For PvE events I don’t care as much, but for PvP I don’t want to be forced to play some hero I have little practice with and little interest in playing in the normal modes. I don’t know if I’ll bother playing this mode again.

She should need an entire re-work for that. All her abilities except Valkyrie is team focused…

And I´m bummed out too about it…

Tried this mode, extremely disappointed, made me try to play comp instead, got a million leavers, ended up uninstalling. At this point your so called ‘new event’ modes have driven me completely bonkers. Wont be back until the next hero, maybe not even then.

Pretty boring, can’t use the heroes I like and the only thing worth playing for (the Mercy skin) I already own.
What ever happened to events that you could play for cool skins, the skins in the shop are good but way to expensive £5-8 maybe but £15-20 is a joke.

have you thought about making it fun?

I’ve found other event game modes to be annoying or not my thing in the past and could still manage to get through them, but this has to be the worst game mode with the most tedious, unfun challenges we’ve seen thusfar. In a mode with a 20 player killcap, you have to kill 300 heroes. For ONE character’s reward for that goal, you’d have to play 15 matches AND WIN. For every single hero, you’d have to play 105 matches AND WIN just to get everybody’s goals. You’re just forcing people to look at skins as a way to advertise, but you’ve made these skins associated with a horrible FFA mode. This mode is not new or innovative. The ultimates don’t feel rewarding, either. This mode is just a bad marketing strategy to beg people to pay for overpriced skins. I can’t see myself getting through all of the hero challenges, because I don’t even see myself getting through a single hero challenge. Normally I have FOMO with event specific stuff, but this game mode feels so unenjoyable that I don’t even care anymore.

…please refrain from name-calling on our forums, thank you…

Yeah because it’s bad form to allow people to farm their friends for free rewards.
