If a game that’s pay to play can survive 3 years without any meaningful content then a F2P will do just fine with new content every 9 weeks…
OW1 absolutely didn’t have a new hero every 4 months.
Yes it absolutely did prior to the end of 2019 when they announced OW2.
Look at the hero release timeline.
Barely. And it’s not very good content. Push is just as bad as 2CP. Sojourn is the most broken hero since Brig/Sig.
Yea we got “content” and a very constricted map pool on top of it. Back in the day I suggested map pools so people could get some more autonomy over what maps they play, but if we were not allowed to vote for a pool of maps pre games at least to have a strict 7 day rotation cycle.
Now we have a map pool that apparently gonna last us the whole season? Some maps are so rare it bores me to death having to play the same maps over and over again.
We barely got a hero in between that, but yea she definitely more broken than echo was, in facty prolly most OP DLC dps hero second only to doom.
A f2p game will be even worse because the focus will be all on the paid stuff.
It did for the first 3 years.
Map votes would also kind of point out which maps are complete failures statistically so their design can be avoided in the future.
That’s obvious – the point is that development could not go on with the game’s business model.
hardly anythings changed
Well I guess it wasn’t that obvious…
I mainly see people complaining about the prices and quality.
Categorically false.
Literally when OW1 was getting heroes and maps, it was on its prime. Then RQ came and we all know the numbers dropped.
Literally no one complained about heroes being released at that rate at all lol.
I find posts of people saying ‘they have nothing to play for’ anymore quite…interesting, I’m like, ‘have you tried the game?’ ![]()
…I do believe that qualifies as content… ![]()
Do you even Paladins bro?
OW was highly criticized for how slow the hero releases were compared to other games.
Again, absolutely false.
They released OW and told us the Hero/Map release schedule, some people liked it, some didnt sure … but there wasnt complaints or critics at the negativity level you suggest. Not at all.
I was on the old forums and this is false. You have zero evidence, completely made up.
They did not (at least not before the first few heroes got released). They were even criticized for not giving any roadmap.
This game hasn’t changed since OW…
Its the exact same game with physics upon death turned upto 10.
You keep making up false claims. They literally said this before the game was released dude, during the Beta (Jeff on interviews).
Source where he says that? By my knowledge they didn’t even plan to be adding new heroes periodically after launch. The game was supposed to have just few heroes like TF2 but they got pressured to make more because of other games and demand.
Dude it was during Blizzcon previous year. They said they want to release heroes, but it would not be a “spam” like 1 every month etc, they wanted them polished etc so it would be a few months (so obviously 2-3 per year, guessing)
Then they released a video 2015 confirming they would be free, and they didnt have an exact schedule. Then early 2017 they confirmed the exact schedule.
There were no post criticising anything, just asking for things. You completely made up that “highly critizised”.
