While it is true that Sym has lost a lot of her playerbase due to the stress of constant nerfing and having to adapt to constant gameplay readjustments that no other heroes have to adapt to, reworking Sym around the idea of making her ‘‘more played’’ is a terrible idea.
She should be played more through being a viable hero on her own first, not be successful just by the metric of being played more.
She will gain and regain playerbase by being a functional hero, but turning her into a super bland S76 is just not going to appeal to anyone.

I’m not saying to make her a S76, but make her faster in everything and getting rid of animations etc calls for a rework.
I wouldn’t mind changes in her abilities (e.g. photon shield instead of turrets) and making her more playable by everyone
Considering how the Sombra and Hog reworks have gone, its perfectly possible to retain Sentries and personal TP while adding photon barrier somewhere.
Removing sentries doesnt do anything good to her kit.

Bastion - Move him to tank or put Assault behind ult.
Mei - Like Bastion. A tank.
Symmetra - To support. Revert to 2.0
Mei doesnt work as a tank with any semblance of her kit. She works with tanks but her entire kit is selfish or blocks her own team’s damage.
If you revert Sym to 2.0 she would just be a misplaced DPS hero yet again lmao
The very fun experience of copy pasting every OW1 hero, not changing them in the slightest to then notice most heroes aren’t suited for 5v5.
