Recently I’ve been suffering an increasing number of disconnects from the server during comp games. I’ve had one disconnect each three of the last four nights, and the problem feels like it’s been getting worse over the last year.
At first I thought it was because I lived in an apartment building, and everyone shared the internet bandwidth (if that even makes sense to say), and that if I randomly DC’d one game in a few hundred, that wasn’t so bad. But my account is now suspended for the next hour, I’ve lost half a rank worth of SR in the last few weeks, and I’m worried I’m going to get banned soon. Plus, since it isn’t letting me back in to finish the game anymore, I’m worried about ruining the game for my teammates.
I’ve tried everything in the pinned thread about disconnects. Rebooted my modem, playing on ethernet, closing all other applications that could be using the internet, etc. Is there anything short of calling my ISP I can do to be able to play OW again? And is there some net test built into the game I can run to prove to the ISP that it’s an internet issue?
Thanks for the quick response! Yeah, I totally get that the SR loss and everything is permanent - that’s fine. I’d just like to get the issue fixed. I played some Quick Play games and ran the WinMTR test until I encountered an issue with the test up.
Here is a run from a normal game with no connection issues:
A bit of packet loss on the first Spectrum/Charter node in the route to the server in the first test. There were 402 packets sent from your modem, but the ISP only received/passed on 398 of them. I’m also on this ISP and they notified me that Spectrum considers 1-3% loss acceptable, but maybe another representative will say something different.
In the second test, it looks like most of it was unsuccessful with a few very packet loss issues on the ISP network. They might resolve this automatically, but you can also contact them with the test results to demonstrate the issue.
