Increase rejoin timer

second game of comp i played today and my Wi-Fi disconnected just after we selected heroes. for the time it took me to reconnect it gave me the option to join match so i clicked it however the 10 second timer had ran out as soon as it said entering game so it cancelled the game and it gave me a 15 minute suspension. if only it was a little bit longer i could’ve joined back, now I’m getting punished for something that isn’t my fault. 15-30 seconds would be fair or even until the game actually begins or slightly just before so that u would have time to regroup with your team.

Probably shouldnt play on wifi tbh.

unfortunately its my only option, i would use an ethernet cable but i cant have a 100ft cable running through the house from the router to my pc :')

You are a 100 ft away from your internet eq? Please tell me you at least have a mesh network

Ultra fail then. 100 feet is nothing. Run it behind the wall and drop it down or move the router.

I agree. I also think it is dumb if you disconnect at the start of the game and join back before the counter ends, it keeps ticking and cancels the game.

Nevermind, that’s what you meant.

well obviously its not 100ft but it would have to be a pretty long cable that just wouldnt be allowed, and i cant exactly move the router the way the outlets in our house are laid out the router also has to be connected to a land line which is in the bottom corner of the house and my room is upstairs in the opposite corner the furthest room from the router lol i have an extender that stabilises the connection however its clearly not that good and slows the speed down

Need to replace the router with a mesh network. Wifi is a physical signal. Every wall, every water filled pipe, every big electronic between you and that router is only going to make the connection worse.

just something you have to live with, I had to mess with a bunch of internet setting with priority and adresses and that garbage so I dont crash (besides EVERY pve mode…) anymore.

ignore the guy saying to just get ethernet its not an option for me either and I made it work

This entire statement shows your ignorance on internet connectivity.

Sounds about right and how its supposed to be.

But your OW app would also ask a re-login, then you login, then you join the game and so on.
By this time, if its a say… payload defend situation, your team has already lost the payload or worse, you arrive by the time the enemy team has taken advantage and will ensure they capture.
And so on scenarios.

Having the adequate internet connection while queuing for a competitive game is your responsibility, hence your fault.
This behaviour is exactly whats wrong with a lot of playerbase who think every small thing they do wrong is the game to blame for putting a system in place that keeps unreliable users away from the rest.

There is a 1.5 minute timer that is in place in an event the game has begun and then someone disconnects.

Honestly speaking, i would much prefer the match is cancelled instead of having a teammate that arrive late and fully knows that every second counts here in the initial team fight, everything from battle plan discuss to selecting right characters and so on.

If its this unreliable to disconnect often, it might be a good idea to go closer to the router
Bringing the router to you

Why am i even suggesting stuff you already would have done anyway.

You have up to 328 feet (100meters) and you will be fine, over that and the cable will start to act like an antenna and start picking up cross talk and much attenuation. You could put a network switch though in between and link your router to it if it’s too far. GG EZ Networking.

Any serious gamer who values their connection should know this.

fair for you but not for the team… if your team has a player who is joining (or selecting a hero) when the remaining team is about to reach the point, then, its already a 5v4 situation which your team is most likely to lose. After that, the only way for you to have a winning chance if your team regroups. Its YOUR WiFi for which your teammates should not suffer. Be a little less selfish, if you can be!

I gotta agree here. with how everyone else has responded to this. Despite we all dont get along. They have some really good advice.

Im just simply sorry there is a reason to this:

Competitive doesn’t have backfilling.

Im sorry to break it to you. But because it doesn’t have back-filling and actual rank is at stake. I have to side with the PRO leaver penalties crowd on this one.

Competitive is not where you should be playing.

I know. It doesn’t sound “fun” and perhaps it is a bit harsh. But people are playing for rank since rank does mean something for player’s career status if they want to show potential stats for actual video gaming competitions and qualifications.

In competitive we have a mutual trust in place that because the system does not have a backfill system and that…

… you are pressing “Q”. You are agreeing you will play to the best of your ability,

you will at least listen to comms and that you will play on-meta picks with a Stable internet connection that is Wired, that your keyboard/mouse isn’t run on batteries or a steam engine,

that you should at least investigate your ISPs connection for stability by doing a “packet burst” to and from their primary server to check if it can handle the traffic, and then (only then) engage in Q’ing for competitive gameplay.

And a Pro recommendation is to use something like “Wubx64” windows update blocker so microsoft’s (ill effective to stop haxors) updates wont automatically kick on and boot you from the match…

Along with doing a full virus scan PRIOR to the gameplay and that you check your power supply’s 5.5v power rails for stability while under stress-load going to the GPU and that your THERMAL issues are resolved for both your GPU, and your CPU…

Oh and another one that easily happens. Check that your ETHERNET ports have no bent bins or breaks in the line from rolling over it with a computer chair and shutting it in a cabinent (been there, done that).

Outside of that. for Quickplay. Well. i mean its QP who cares! The points are made up and everything is UNFAIR. DOnt think they need the penalties there.

But arcade does need penalties, since people Farm in arcade too.

Happy gaming.
