Inconsistency in "one trick" policy

So you speak for all 10 other people in every match you’ve ever played?

You also assume that if they switch things will be better - that is not always true. Not even most of the time.

The point is that Blizzard don’t seem that as a problem. It has been said countless times by devs in the forums, and it’s explicitly written in the report window that not switching heroes isn’t a bannable offense.

Because, if they did, it’s much easier to code in the game itself a mechanic to prevent one-tricking at all (they did that in 3v3 because it was a problem there), than keep it in the game and rely on reports from players to ban those players.

I agree with you that one tricking is prejudicial (IMO, more to the player than the team, but I digress), and that the game was intended for everyone to have a broad hero pool and switch often in each match. But there is a vast difference between “playing this way is not recommended” and “playing this way should prevent you from playing the game ever again”.

I think there should be a requirement to join a competitive queue. Maybe a hero rank system similar to paladins, where you have to reach a certain rank on 3 heroes in every category (dps, tank, support).

The next time I get suspended will be for around 4 months I believe, so I will be playing Symmetra around Christmas.

Blizzard are scum. This game has alienated me from buying any of their games for life.

Why do people think this would fix the “problem”? I would still be able to pick Sym all I wanted.

That is such a lie. I love playing with one tricks and against one tricks. They actually make the games more fun instead of it being similar comp vs similar comp every game.

It wouldn’t fix the problem. But it would make the issue a far less rare occurrence. I’d imagine the majority of one tricks won’t go through the effort of doing that.

Do you actually think people who one trick have 0 hours on all other heroes?

Obviously the needed ranks for heroes wouldn’t be easily obtained.

So how would they be obtained then?

Several hours in those heroes. Like I said I’m aware it won’t solve the problem. But it’ll have enough of a restriction where it won’t be such a common problem

I can assure you it will be just as common. Either way, it’s not a problem.

You have your opinion, I have mine.

I have one other solution that would make everyone happy. If someone has lets just say 50% of time on 1 character, they are considered a one trick. Obviously this number can be changed to make it fair.

When these players queue for comp, they get queued with other players considered one tricks by the system. They have no right to complain about this separate queue as it would make them hypocrites.

One tricks shouldn’t be banned though. You can’t dictate what people play. Everybody purchased this game one way or another, and it’s really shi**y to tell people what to play when there are choices.

I play Junkrat into Pharahmercy+Zarya+hanzo+widow all the time yet still dominate against 5 ‘counters’ at once

That means if someone played the game for say 2 hours, first time. And used Mercy for one hour. The system now sets to that q. I bet people would abuse this in an expoilt SR way. Simliar how people exploit late night games with low population. Also I wouldn’t even care if they did that. I want a Lock in comp mode to begon with. Or a lock in mode in general. Why is every game type in this game. No limits, low grav etc. But not a locking you in by you first choice mode. Basically the reverse of lockout.

This game is played by meta slaves, and if you don’t play meta you get reports. A pile of reports equal a ban, and Blizzard is too lazy to look at these bans. It’s as easy as that.

I’m gonna call BS here.

  • Double sniper partially grounds Junk while being countered
  • Those 5 specific counters? What are the chances of that?
  • You can handle Pharmercy, but even if you’re a god tier juker Junk can’t handle snipers forever
  • … Especially when you need to perform telegraphed actions (mine jump, regular jump, etc) to dodge Pharmercy

Can totally work. But one can’t “dominate” against that with Junk unless they don’t belong in their rank at all. Then even if they did, good luck doing it consistently. And even if they did that, it wouldn’t be because of them. Because those are heroes that Junk mostly just can’t reach. It would be because Junk’s teammate Widow shuts down their enemy’s counters: Widow, Pharmercy, etc etc.
Can totally work into 4 (Zarya doesn’t count) hard counters. As in not dominating. Winnable. Doable. Works fine. But dominating? Let alone consistently? It just flat out isn’t possible because of the kits.

Well thats fine, and I would prefer a straightforward, consistent policy like that, but that isnt whats happening.

Or we could limit the number of reports you can make to 5 or so per day. Dota does it. That will prevent a lot of false reports.
