No, that problem was already solved with Moira. Brigitte brought us the worst time in Overwatch history for majority of player base.
No, the solution was nerf Tracer, and dive tanks. Nerfing Genji, hell even nerfing Tracer would have done nothing for the meta.
Wanna know why? Sombra Doomfist dive wouldve just been the new norm since Genji Tracer were never needed for the comp to work in the first place.
Anyone who thinks Brig was because of Genji/Tracer specifically does not understand how dive worked fundamentally. The problem wasn’t the two flankers playing janitor duty, the problem was the Monkey diving in with Dva supplying him 4 seconds of immunity to damage along with Zen supplying a 30% damage modifier.
Wanna know what else is funny? Brigitte soft counters Tracer but still totally dumps on Genji. Anything countering Tracer counters Genji even harder.
Man there sure is a lot of hate for 222 when that change finally fixed the 5 DPS+Mercy problem.
As for my least favorite change, adding Ball to the game. The hero is either obnoxious and requires specific heroes to counter, or he feeds and my team has to deal with 6 ults every major team fight.
I have never had a game where there was 5 dps and a Mercy. Most of my games were 1 tank (me), 3 Dps, and two healers. But we’d swap around as needed.
I’m not saying 5 DPS didn’t happen, but I’ve never experienced it and can only tell you what I can tell you.
I will never understand this problem - you can queue up for whatever you want.

Just my opinion before someone with a different view cracks it at this post.
-The long string of tank nerfs after GOATS
-Removing region selection options.
Pretty much it. The second is recent, but still EXTREMELY horrible.
For me this games were like 9 of 10
Adding heroes with shields, like Sigma and Orisa. Shields ruin the game. 5v5 might save it
For me it is 2-2-2. Maybe if they had waited for more tanks and supports or separated dps into defense and offense again it might have felt better to me but having your choices of heroes to play split down to 7, 8 and 17 it is no wonder DPS has a queue time and I laugh at anyone who thought there wasn’t going to be a queue time.
They used some janky Ice cream analogy to explain the roles but when I feel fishing is a better way to explain it. Supports and Tanks fish with a pole and some bait. While DPS chums the water and throws a net.
Btw I wouldn’t be surprised if going down to 1-2-2 doesn’t significantly drop that queue time. Unless they just make tank fat dps that doesn’t really matter who they pick then they’ll still have far too much on their shoulders and will drive people away as well.
There should have been a longer push to try and encourage people to group up to play and ways to make it easier to add/retain people who you’ve had a good game with before we just went to forcing roles.
It could be because I was the tank. Thanks to me, we’d never have 5 DPS because I’d always lock tank. There was a time when people thought I was crazy because I preferred to play the bullet sponge.
Sorry to hear that. I was the mercy. I took months break because i was tired of being the o ly healer and the 5 dps blaming me for all the loses saying that i was not healing enough, or all of them screaming at me because all if them wanted me to res them ( 1 rez every 30 seconds…) 2.2.2 was the reason why i came back
- Certain balance choices like releasing Sigma 1.0 in the best state that a hero has ever been in the entire history of the game. Or breaking Genji for 1,5 months to get a temporary exposure boost from a few Genji streamers only to lose a massive chunk of players to it. These subjective balance decisions and changes are the reason the game has been ruined so often
- Matchmaking leniency changes where it was clear as a day that they pushed a lot harsher queue leniency changes onto the game. Most notably Q4/2019 changes made the game absolutely horrible to play as a high MMR solo player and after that change most of the veteran players I’ve seen sticking to the game started quitting the game on a weekly basis. These are by far the worst changes ever made for the game and even if they served to lower the queue times by some minutes, that loss was never worth it for anyone who wants to consistently play the game which lead to the core playerbase that kept the game alive to uninstall the game too
Reaper should deal 1.5x damage to barriers. The fact that he has a shotgun, hits all the bullets, and still only deals 140 max damage per shot is pitiful. Make him useful for something.
I like 2-2-2, but the matchmaking for it is bad. Idk if it’s better now, but when I played comp more, it was terrible.
For me it was a combination of Torb’s rework and the arrival of Brigitte which I suspect had something to do with how they reworked Torb to start with (at least internally, maybe way before releasing her they knew it would be done to Torb). And for other reasons, I dislike that Brigitte is a Healer, and not a Tank (more on that in a moment).
So, Torb was reworked. Well, “reworked” as in let’s completely remove his Armor Shards ability. That’s the bigger offender for me. No, not even the removal of the Level 3 Turret, that one may have been quite over-powered anyway (or at least it shouldn’t have been possible to activate it from ‘Global’ distances from anywhere on the map; that part was idiotic, having to be in relative close proximity to activate the Level 3 Ult should have been there from the start but that’s another thing and it’s in the past, too). It’s really just the fact that instead of ‘reworking’ that ability (you know, like when you REWORK something, right?), they REMOVED it.
In favor of…?
Oh, right, his own daughter is there now and SHE gives Armor, just… differently, and she’s a healer.
Wait, what? So… giving Armor somehow, but just in a a NEW, you know… re-worked way, for Torb instead… THAT wasn’t an option? It never crossed anyone’s mind internally that Torb IS the main engineer of the game? Of the game’s Lore? Ok so what was it about then removing Armor that made the game any better, but instead letting Brigitte do her father’s previous job anyway in the end.
Just… no, sorry but no. It never made any sense to me. At least not beyond the clear fact that as a result playing Torb suddenly became a lot more ‘action-focused’ with being able to fire faster and move faster, like he’s an arcade machine incarnate now, it’s all about action and DPS, for an engineer. Let’s not hide it, Torb was this game’s TF2 Engineer. But hey, “We’ll rework this guy but not really, we’ll actually remove his Lvl 3 Turret, the Ult associated to that and his entire Armor ability from his kit, BUT we’ll just switch that ability over to Brigitte because… actually because we don’t really know what we want to do with her so there’s one less unique ability to think about for her. GE-NI-US!”.
Quick reminder, in the lore, and in the CGI Shorts, it is clear that Brigitte is BUILT LIKE A TANK. That she was mentored by another Tank, so to speak, none other than freakin’ Reinhardt. That she’s a mechanic too. But eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeey how about we make her HEALER! 
So yeah, those two things were in sync with each others, and this to very day, I think it was a complete failure on their part to properly rework Torb, and to not make Brigitte an actual Tank.
There’s also Symmetra 1.0, I liked her that way. I miss the fact that she had 2 Ults, and I miss the Shield Generator. The Turrets at the time were weak, yeah. They could have been reworked. Maybe for the Shield ability, if the Generator really was a problem, then how about making her GIVE shields to her teammates? Wasn’t too much of a problem to let Brigitte provide Armor (as a HEALER if I have to remind it again), but letting Symmetra provide Shields, even if temporary, oh boy… ok now THAT would be a problem heh?
Yeah, anyway. Those are my picks for ‘bad decisions’ over the years.

Let’s see, we’ll start at the beginning of the fall. Hitscan falloff buff too much > Mercy 2.0 > Double snipers > Brig > Storm arrows on release > Sym 3.0 > Ashe 4 buffs to gun no nerfs > Sigma > Double Barrier > Baptiste > Shield nerfs > Echo
Honourable mentions include, Hog meta, Genji meta, Hitscan falloff nerf too much, the way Orisa got murdered after Sigma got released.
