Obviously there are problems with the game. Skin distribution is incredibly lackluster and some heroes like sombra need a rework but overall I think overwatch is in an amazing state and I don’t think people talk about it enough. I just want the devs to know they’re doing great.
Objectively I think every hero should get a unique legendary every couple seasons but besides that I don’t really have complaints
I dont care about cosmetics and the base game is unplayably bad. Only classic is somewhat playable.
What makes it bad? Stadium is fun and perks are cool
I wouldn’t say new golden age, but it’s not dead like some try to push
I too think ow is in a real good spot atm. Balance is good, people will always have complaints, but we have a lot of hero variety. Having 6v6 and stadium as options for people is great. Perks are neat, hero bans changing the meta more, plus being able to avoid issue heroes. Map voting allowing people to play the maps majority wants more often. And also lootboxes. It’s been a great year for ow2.
Golden age would be actual lore, a healthy esports scene that developed naturally (not by throwing money at it), cosmetics people can actually afford, and awesome shorts that break OW into the mainstream. Edit: also revert S9 changes.
But I’d definitely call this a silver age, most of the basics are hitting on all cylinders right now, the game’s fixed and lots of new content is coming out all the time, Stadium is super fun and fresh, and the team is trying new stuff again. 
I think perks should be auto loaded variants on Heroes, I dont like the perk system as is, it just makes steam rolls worse IMO. Would add more variety if they were just set loadouts you could pick in the spawn room.

I don’t think most of them are too impactful to make much of a difference in terms of being rolled or not. And often even the team losing will have similar amounts of perks, since much of it is based in dmg and heals, not just elims. Just like the losing team often has more healing done in the match, due to taking more dmg.
Both are still only balanced in favor of a select few heroes (outside of a freak accident where a typically bad character gets a broken perk, which is always nerfed immediately at the start of the next season).
the second golden era hype died very quickly and is not relevant at all, marvel rivals still gets the spotlight, the point of golden eras is that there is only one and ow past that long ago and there is nothing they can do to have a second golden era, not without lore and pve at least but is too late for that
Imo, the only thing stopping OW2 from being tip tier is the matchmaking. It’s designed for quick matches as opposed to fair matches.
I don’t care how fun the game is in every other aspect. If the matches are lopsided it’s not fun to play. When a casual is matched against plats and diamonds strictly because it saves people 30 seconds on their queue then it’s a broken system. To me, it’s ruined OW.
This season in particular has been the worst Ive ever seen the MM, even OW1 seasons 1-6 had better MM and that was without RQ.
You see it everywhere online, here, X, Reddit, Insta, Youtube, Tiktok, literally everywhere people are complaining about MM this season, whether its QP or Comp or Arcade. They really jacked it up, and on top of that theres alot of sketch fresh accounts everywhere.
OW2 is definitely in a new Golden Age of Gameplay 
Sure, theres not really any new Lore except that Rammatra comic and no PvE, but in terms of PvP gameplay and optional, fun comestic content, right now is one of the best Era’s of Overwatch. 
Overwatch 2 is great right now!
The one biggest thing the game needs to make it even better is for Tanks to no longer be supertanks in 5v5.
6v6 also needs dedicated patches. It deserves dev time proportional to its popularity at the very least.

It’s not perfect, but overall I wouldn’t want to go back to any point in the game’s past as a replacement for what we have now.
With perks in game? Hell no
this is the worst state Overwatch has ever been in season 9 hp/hitbox changes, hero bans, raidboss tanks, perk power creep.
as bad as GOATS, double shield were, at least we didn’t have season 9 hp/ hitboxes and perk power creep

This game has never achieved greatness and it’s sad.
