In Miami but keeps getting queued to South American server w/180ms+ ping

Used to be getting great <50ms latency on most matches (both competitive and quick match), but since the last game update, overwatch now tries to queue me into South American server almost 100% of the time… I can not understand what other people are saying in voice.

Also, the ping has gone up to 180ms and up, very painful to play… Another weird thing is now when I try to find groups, only one or two group would show up and people don’t speak english, so I suspect the groups are also been switched to South American servers…

What is going on? Is there a way to fix this and get me back to US servers and groups so I can enjoy the game again?

Thanks

The route you take to reach Overwatch servers is determined by your ISP. It’s likely they are routing you closer to South America, and then Blizzard thinks you will get the best ping by connecting there. We can test this for sure by looking at a WinMTR, which you can post here using the </> icon and putting spaces in any links.

Here is what I’m getting… My pin to SAE1 was 175ms… Occationally I get queued to Chicago server with a 75ms ping… but only occationally.

You could use a VPN to correct which server you connect to, but ultimately, it’s something your ISP would need to change to correct the issue you’re experiencing.
