It sounds like you were one of the people that let it stream only to get tokens.
itâs because the two previous OWL exclusive skins (winson and zen) could be bought with token drops from stream or real money, and this one canât because of the switch to youtube. Itâs not weird logic when iâm pointing out how this particular skin canât be gotten by the same means the previous two were - and this is unfair.
Assuming that you will always have the ability to get things for free just because the chance was there before is your own failing.
Everyone had the same chance. Not being able to buy something because you donât have the money isnât unfair, itâs how life works.
It sucks you canât get the limited skin. Sure. But it isnât unfair.
if you read the entire post, youâd see i do have the skin. No need to get into âoh thatâs lifeâ - this is about a video game. Iâm not gonna argue with you, iâve made my point regardless.
*quoted wrong post
Brigitteâs skin is essentially the only non-event content weâve received during the content drought, and only one of six items that Blizzard has ever not given an alternative method of earning (the others being Pink Mercy and Blizzcon Winston/Bastion/Genji/Symmetra).
Itâs significant.
Only $5. Not significant.
Just $5 for you, but itâs an entire paradigm shift for me.
Good luck in life.
10 bucks actuallyâŚ
Itâs in their interest to maintain a high viewing figure (even if the figure isnât necessarily accurate as a result) so it will surely return in the near future I imagine.
omg poor you! I paid for stuff with my wallet so idk what free tokens is
That kinda stinks. Good thing I have 1500 tokens.
I love the owl either way but for any people saying itâs not an issue doesnât comprehend how revenue from streaming works. The money is in the advertising. YT paid for a higher priced deal than twitch believing theyâd profit from a wider audience: existing owl viewers, and viewers in their platform. Owl view numbers have hit lower opening season numbers in this current form. Not saying that the views werenât high, however YT has to make money. A lot of revenue which powers this game isnât from lootboxes(do the math on what it is). The league has to do well to fuel the OW machine powered by Blizz. If âCheezitsâ (just an example a la crunch time) isnât seeing their adâs exposed to the view count they expected then they stop wanting to do business. If YT canât find the money from paid advertising to profit their investment in the league they wonât wanna do business. If Blizzard doesnât find a good deal for the league streaming, the league fails. If OWL fails OW loses money keeping the game active and engaging. Also didnât YT only sign on for a 1 year deal(correct me if wrong), if so that is whatâs called a safety net: in laymanâs terms a safeguard for future losses. Also to be clear many esports events use free drops, itâs how you keep an esport growing. When people watch and get free stuff they get âthe exposure effectâ and may end up enjoying the league for more than drops. To that end, when you change platforms and pull the proverbial rug out from under people who are used to certain benefits from viewing they will⌠Stop watching.
People keep saying that, but there have still been strong numbers every day even without tokens.
The numbers are âstrongâ not stronger than last seasonâs. YT didnât pay for less, they paid for more.
Considering the platform switch, having less matches played, and only on weekends, Iâd say theyâre very strong.
