Teams are still allowed to make pickups. The problem is teams already submitted their final rosters, meaning the players have to try to get on rosters that have been completed without them.
I think watching people play overwatch might actually be more boring than watching people play football. Your first mistake was actually watching OWL in the first place.
Idk, seems a bit cancel culture rush to me.
I dont think the whole sport is bad cz of 1 shady club.
Leagues and companys in real life cant change overnight cz of 1 scandal.
Immortals has had a long history of scummy stuff, they need to go. I don’t think the whole league is bad, but I’m not supporting a league with IGC in it.
We all realise that not supporting the league could lead to other teams being disbanded due to lack of funds, right?
Maybe Blizzard will feel some pressure to do something then. They have until April.
Good point (WHY 20 CHARACTERS WHYYYYHH)
This is rlly sad that the valiant disbanded, first seoul, then vancouver, now valiant.
(Troll mode : on)
-Me : What about Paris Eternal ?
-SrgtPepper : don’t care about useless french people. Vaillant are better than them…
-Me : What about covid ? Everyone lost some money
-SrgtPepper : don’t care. Immortal has no place in OW.
-Me : What about Titans, and KR full release ?
-SrgtPepper : S**t up, I talk about Vaillant, not the others team…
-Me : Sorry, but Vaillant is not better than the others team…
-SrgtPepper : I said…
-Me after kill SrgtPepper with one bullet in the head… : Looks like he doesn’t know about other teams. An another kid/noob leaving the Earth…
(Troll mode : off)
Anyway, this year, it’s like the first season : boring… Shock won this year, and anybody doesn’t care. But that’s just my opinion.
Paris eternal didn’t have the budget to keep all of their players. IGC on the other hand blamed covid visa issues of all things for the player’s release.
All im saying is that approach is childish.
Theres bad poeple in all places, and you cant just naively nuke everything to make it pure.
The bad part starts only when “bad / evil” way becomes the companys motto or majority.
An indivual person/club shouldnt change your love for a whole sport.
And buisness wise, popular jobs will always be cutthroat. Why ? cz theyre popular, too much supply so your work is valued less.
Immortals got rid of everyone after the mandatory roster deadline using a loophole in a system set up to help orgs dealing with a disease that has killed more than 2 million people to drop the contracts of their players and coaches without paying them, and right now the OWL is doing nothing.
It’s not childish, it’s voting with my money. If you have an alternative that will put pressure on them I’m all ears.
Whatever happened to DrDisrepect?
Did he ever get out of Silver?
He was fun to watch. Bombastic and entertaining.
If they are as bad as they are made out to be in this thread… why exactly are players signing with them? Is there some information this thread is missing in order to generate outrage or are pro players just dumb for some reason?
A lot of the players were around since the previous season and all of them had good relationships with the coaching staff (who also got unexpectedly axed). The players didn’t think it was possible to have this happen and it really shouldn’t be, so they stuck with the org after being guarenteed a safe contract. In short, Valiant lied to everyone and did something borderline illegal. Also, the player’s options were basically take a guarenteed job that worked out for them last year, take a risk on another low level OWL team, or go to Contenders.
Blizz has to step in. No matter how much their business model was built on bamboozling investors into thinking that they can sell pretty colors to sheeple, the jig has long been up and they know they need to market the players themselves. Things like this put the financial future of the league, and therefore the game overall, at major risk of total collapse.
