So I guess Barriers, healing, armor, and overhealth all don’t belong to be in Overwatch?
Keep in mind, Baptiste’s immortality field was still pretty bad for the majority of his lifespan. It only became popular when Orisa and Sigma became meta, and those are the two tanks that Baptiste synergizes best with.
Honestly I like how it works now. Throw it out to save potentially your entire team from a riptire/exploding mech/whatever else. That’s an incredibly powerful ability, and despite its name, it isn’t broken considering it is no longer used as a way to EZ-win a teamfight the same way it was when Baptiste was first released.
Yes, Bapt is hard to play, manly because of this ability that is decisive for him to get his real value.
Bapt is’nt the best overall, but he is really strong in the super effective Poke/Double Shield composition so buffing him on that tool would be busted.
Bapt hasn’t been overnerfed. He could use some buffs but Immortality field is fine.
Why not trying to adapt to how the game is and learn difficult mechanic instead of asking for a buff first ?
there was an ability in battlerite that worked like that. Basically it was a tree and if you stood within it all damage you received was instead transferred to the tree. You could either attack the tree or the people within and it was particularly weak to aoe damage (more than a barrier would).
I still think it’s a very powerful ability. Unfortunately, so many players at a lower rank, and even in diamond straight up waste it or throw it in terrible positions the other team can destroy immediately.
I think actually Bapt mains are still using him. It’s just the more flex players who people who try and emulate the meta think he’s weak.
Baptiste is 90% balanced, it’s just people play him in the wrong way, immortality can save teammates but you just have use it in the right place and time
Use immortality like you use rez, when you play mercy you depend on everything she has except her rez, you just use it when you’re in the great position and time without any plan, that’s what you should do with immortality
And keep in mind that if sigma and orisa be more valuable again he will be the most pick rate than other supports
If bap need any buff then it shouldn’t be an immortality buff because it’s still so powerful but also balanced.
And for his ult, it’s balanced to and can be too powerful to
You can use it for healing/damage with yourself/teammates
Watch Ml7 and imLunar on Twitch and you will ask for nerfs for him
You see it gain insane value up high, and not low because people don’t use it or the baps at that level don’t make the ability EFFECTIVE.
It’s a super powerful ability, just not always powerful when you put it down if your placement is careless and your team won’t use well placed ones.
I don’t agree at all that baps IF isn’t good.
It’s insanely good.
Bap is brilliant atm, he only isn’t really viable OUTSIDE of the comp he is ideal with (DOUBLE SHIELDS). Which means he is balanced, because he doesn’t thrive when is isn’t supposed to. I play him in gm he is honest to god one of the best healers in the game, with the sheer amount of spam damage going on immortality field becomes one of the best support abilities.
I feel like immortality field has a lot of potential to have a powerful impact but it is hard to get value out of it on an uncoordinated PUG team. I can’t even begin to count the amount of times someone died because they walked out of my field but when you really jive with a team Bap can feel incredible.
Yeah. It’s got a long CD, low HP, and a short duration. It’s pretty UP in its current state. I mean, it’s better than Rez, but that’s not saying much, as that ability sucks too.
it was (sadly) a good moba brawl. Basically they said “hey, what if we trimmed the fat from mobas and just jump straight into champion v champion brawls?”.
It was fun and fast paced, but they suddely tried to chase the battle royale fad (with a moba) and then just self destructed as they kept throwing crap at a wall hoping something would stick.
Nothing did and here we are
Try a full year. Baptiste recieved only buffs until 222 ended. Release I field was fine, because targets at 20% HP still die really, really quickly, and shooting a
Overwatch is not just an FPS. Immortality field and Baptiste were unused for the majority of his lifespan, and if it were OP that wouldn’t be the case.
It being “unfun to play against” is a joke of an argument. A lot of abilities in Overwatch are unfun to play against, but people get around it because there are other abilities that can just deal with it no problem. Immortality field is exactly the same way. Being unable to die in a small radius makes them ridiculously susceptible to AOE damage. It is not a horrific thing to play against, just because you don’t want to.
