Learn how mechanics work before you QQ. There’s no lock. That’s just an animation.
She’s not a hard counter. She simply has relaxed aiming requirements that allow her more consistency on a hero that lives and dies based on how much inconsistency she can introduce into the enemy team.
Then why the QQ and nerf-begging? I mean, if it’s not a problem then there should be no nerf and the 30->20 heal nerf is OTT.
Then we agree. The real problem is DPS mains vacationing in the support queue to get away from the 10+ minute DPS queue. They suck, they sabotage games, and should probably be actioned for it.
It could be that this is my personal experience and preference, but I’ve played far more Ana than Moira and I find nades very easy to nail and very easy to just randomly throw away. Of course, I don’t like doing it because it risks my survivability and the survivability of my team, but the same is true for Moira.
If I throw my damage orb away, I’m very diveable for the next 10 seconds and my team doesn’t have their main source of healing. Healing orb is absolutely necessary to pair it with primary healing on Moira during a team fight. Wasting damage orbs might be easier mechanically, but the cost of doing so is the same as the cost of wasting a nade, especially because Moira can’t do any other utility for her team (besides selfishly escape). Ana is still left with longer range and a sleep dart. Plus, if the nade landed, the enemy is anti-healed, which is inherent value that makes that enemy diveable in return and Ana is the only character in the game with the ability to anti-heal. Nothing Moira does is really unique to Moira; doing small tick or trash damage provides no extraordinary utility.
I agree with this, obviously Ana’s issue is shields and Moira’s orbs go through shields. However, I think this is a fair trade considering that Moira has nothing else going for her and Ana has multiple types of utility, especially with the fact that nade provides anti-heal. If nade could go through shields, it would be op. This is why Moira’s orb can go through shields; because it does nothing special except help her build ult charge before the fight or heal someone behind the enemy barrier. That’s the extent of her abilities. Ana is far more powerful, which is why she’s given this drawback. Otherwise, we’d all be crying about anti-heal right now.
Oh, absolutely. I happen to main both of them, with Hanzo being my most played hero and like, I get dragons faster than coalescence in the majority of the cases.
I know he complains when you compare Moira to any dps because “she’s a support” but even if I compare her to a support, both Ana and Baptiste (in my experience) can get ults as fast or faster than Moira regularly.
It’s such a non-issue regarding damage orb in particular because I build my ult mostly through heals anyway. As a healer should.
I wasn’t saying anti heal isn’t way more value than a random damage orb. Was just disputing that it was as easy to use. Realistically I can hit three-four people with a damage orb every time it’s up against most comps. Is it a good idea? Hell no. Usually it’s throwing. Even at the start of a fight I’m giving ult charge to healers with generally better ults. And mid fight if that damage orb isn’t securing a kill it’s a massive waste. But can I hit 3-4 people every cast? Yes almost certainly. If I could do the same with nade every cast I’d be in masters. Imagine an Ana that anti heals half the team every ten seconds. Completely unstoppable. The reason this doesn’t happen but orb can tag multiple people is a mix of what I was talking about (shield mostly, instant activation vs prolonged, arc, etc). That’s not to say I don’t get good antis, it’s just to say it’s nowhere near as easy to land as to tag someone with a damage orb. She’d be relentlessly broken if it was. That’s what I was getting at.
As for the other part I still think Moira is UP. It’s this awful meta propping her up. I think her kit is badly designed but I wouldn’t argue for her to be nerfed now. She will experience enough of a nerf when they get us out of double shield… Sometime in February based on their track record.
I understand what you mean and agree. My comparison could be just a little off-base, but I believe it’s fairly close, if we apply the strengths and weaknesses of both heroes. For example, hitting 3-4 people with damage orb with every cast is guaranteed on Moira, while hitting the same with Ana doesn’t happen as often. That is absolutely true.
However, the value each gets from their cast is vastly different. Moira hitting 3-4 people with orb won’t do much, besides that ult charge (if she needs it). Ana doing the same can set up a team kill. It’s reasonable that there’s a slight disadvantage in Ana’s nade (blocked by shields), but I think that ultimately the two abilities are very similar in how they are used and how much mechanical skill they require, with the mechanical skill obviously being a bit lower for Moira, but at the cost of not providing as much value. Ana has to hit a slightly harder shot, but if she does, she’s rewarded more than Moira.
Which is why I’m confused as to why Samito is so focused on damage orb giving Moira “too much value.” I just don’t think 8% ult charge for tickling 4 people with the orb is all that valuable in the long run. I can get 20% ult charge if I heal both of my tanks in 2 seconds.
That’s mostly the reason for me to compare the two. Yes, it’s easier to hit, but you don’t get much from it, despite what Samito claims. With Ana, you need to work a little harder, but your reward is massive should you hit. Aka the value Ana gets from only minor mechanical advantage is vastly greater to that of Moira and her tickling orb. Though, obviously, with the meta being as it is, Moira is currently favoured.
I am just saying dude. 50 DPS is a respectable amount of damage to have that is basically guaranteed in a game environment where projectiles that hit for 150 hp are everywhere in this game.
Moira players would be more reserved if it took as much skill to use their fire as it does for many other heroes.
Every time you try to give it a name a Moira player comes out of the woodwork to tell you that it is not that thing when it is clear from the beginning that there is not much to deliberate on.
It is easy to aim. Profoundly easy.
It is not my problem that the community cannot agree on a name for it.
Lol this entire game is screwed right now. Nerfing Moira is not going to fix it. And just like I have said, anyone who thinks Overwatch will ever be like it was pre-S10 again is not familiar with Blizzard’s practices.
But this recent controversy was sparked over Samtio raging because he killed a Moira as Reinhardt and was waiting on health pack to respawn, but as his luck would have it, Moira’s damage orb would re-enter in the room and kill him.
I think that is what people are focused on and I think anyone can agree that having to die this way is extremely frustrating.
I really do not know how every time I talk about a hero it derails the thread into a legion of people attempting to give me advice, assuming I struggle against said hero when I play.
If I could handle Hanzo when he had Scatter Arrow I would not know what to say if I could not figure out how to handle a Moira.
I’m a soldier main, Reinhardt killed me when I went to Melee him so Reinhardt is OP and needs a nerf. Don’t fight Moira where she’s at her best in closed spaces. You wouldn’t go fight Rein next to his face. You’re playing to the enemy’s main strength and then complaining. You killed yourself. That’s the point of noobstomper heroes, you didn’t outskill anyone, you let them outskill themselves. In my time in GM playing Moira I very very rarely get a random kill with my orb, because GM players are not generally braindead enough to let it kill them. People get killed by random firestrikes from REinhardt through most of this game’s history, he wasn’t aiming at the Ana in the back, he was just throwing it at the reinhardt, yet he was rewarded. It’s fine that’s how the game works
I should tell you why you feel so inclined to offer me… “advice” ?
I feel that would be much easier for you to answer. But I somehow doubt it is because you wished to offer guidance in the event that I actually needed it.
No one said you needed it. But if you’re going to come here and complain about aspects of the game, do you expect people to not point out ways to alleviate the problem?
