I'm starting to have empathy for Sym mains

For the longest time I’ve found Sym mains that complained about her rework to be whiny and just unable to adapt to having to aim. I didn’t have much sympathy for their plight… That is until the devs came after Sombra.

We’ve had multiple iterations of Sombra in the past with the high point IMHO being that sweet spot right before they implemented the 2 second cooldown after a botched hack attempt. The current Sombra, while she has a few perks, is not the character I had come to love to play. She is now a hide and seek specialist that pounces on opportunistic targets, again which is nice, but she has no mid fight potential. She is more accessible to new comers at the cost of a skill ceiling.

So now I’m in the same boat as the sym and Mercy mains before me. I will choose to adapt to this new Sombra playstyle because most of the character is still present. Can’t say I’m overly enthused but maybe I’ll come to dig this new iteration eventually.

The problem with heroes like Sombra, and even heroes like Ana, is that if you tweak them too much they can end up being OP due to the nature of their kit. So like you said, there’s that sweet spot, which clearly the devs are trying to find by testing things out in PTR.

I am trying to figure out how any of that sounds like a bad thing. She still has the same core kit but now they’re playing around with the kit to see what can be buffed without making her OP. A hack preventing a reload is absolutely huge. That would make a target absolutely useless.

And infinitely stealthed Sombra that can contest a point? That’s insane.

Honestly I have mixed feelings. Parts of this are absolutely amazing. I just have never been able to get past the 2 second cooldown. Midfight it is incredibly hard to get a hack off when a single stray bullet makes you useless. I also misread the hack interrupting reload. That truly is amazing

HACK DOES NOT PREVENT RELOAD

You can just stop your OWN reload animation into hack

Which isn’t bad considering the duration of her reload

If that’s what they mean by that then they need to make that more clear. It can be interpreted either way.

See that’s how I originally read it, Ok again it’s nice but not super great

So many people read that wrongly.

It s not ur hack hacking the opponent reload . It s abt having to cancel sombra s reload with the hack ability.
More often than not a sombra player will reload weapon and find a hack opportunity . But cant cancel the weapon reload to start the hack hence losing 2sec. Sombra mains have been askig for that . Not to block the reload ability of the hacked opponent .
Got it ?

I’m really not willing to give up that speed bonus whilst in stealth. As long as that remains than the whole thing will be considered a nerf

I’ll just paste what I already said as a reply.

You can still interrupt someone currently in the process of reloading. It’s just right now they can still reload after being interrupted.

Eh that one I’m fine with. It’s only a 25% nerf and translocator can be used for distances etc. I mean I’m not thrilled but I can live with it
