No. Just generally speaking, players in that rank will get significantly more value just playing a different character with a lower skill floor. I’m not sure what it’s like now, since overbuff isn’t a thing anymore, but in OW1, tracer always had a sub 50% winrate anywhere below high diamond/low masters. Which means on average, tracer was losing more games than she was winning. But sure, to all these gold and plat players, tracer was the most busted character in OW1.
Sure, you can do good if you practice enough, but you know what that also leads to? You climbing out of that rank. I used to be in gold. I played tracer in gold. I will admit that I was bad and probably threw a lot of games. But then I got better over time, and I climbed.
Obviously, people can’t get better if they don’t pick the hero they want to improve at. But saying it’s easier to win games on a character most people will not be able to pick up very easily, vs a character like junkrat, is just completely objectively false.
I mean the dps passive that got put all into reloading speed so she, the hero that reloads extremely often compared to other heroes, just gained a massive uptime buff.
I’m talking about teamwork not rank a full silver commed team could trash a plat team 100%
Tracer is very reliant on teamwork so ranks that aren’t teamwork heavy but aren’t free ranks where you can just roll everyone uncontested like Plat and Diamond even though they’re lower ranks can feel awful to play in even though you will win and rank up extremely quickly.
I know because I’ve played in Plat and Diamond as a Masters player.
Tracer isn’t Genji or Widow you can’t just 1 shot or grind the entire enemy team if you’re way better.
It takes ages to get kills you can lose kills if they get healed and you can die or have to backup if they get help.
If you put Kevster or Proper in a Diamond lobby those guys are going to drop multiple nukes. This entire post is cope from you. Tracer is not a hero that is only playable when your teammates are capable.
Yeah they will win but it wont be as unplayable as going against a TOP500 widowmaker who just 1taps you before you can even react instantly.
In comparison tracer kills relatively slow and if you get healed she can lose the kill you can also play Kiriko Lucio or Brig which is hard for tracer to deal with because they have mobillity self heal damage health etc.
Whereas a top500 widowmaker theres relatively little a plat team can do they could go full dive and still lose.
Pretty sure all the salty supports on the forums the last 24 hours are the ones coping a flanker was properly balanced and the silver mercys are losing it.
Tracer is literally the most independent hero in the entire game. That has been one of her biggest qualities, and why she was permanent meta in OW1 despite the meta comps.
If you think that Tracer is somehow team dependent then you wont survive a single match as Symmetra.
Because as annoying as a strong tracer is Sym would take a fraction of the effort to get the same value. Thats why shes never been meta for more than a week or two, nobody wants to play into a terribly designed hero like sym when they are strong.
Tracer is disgustingly overtuned right now, there’s no world where you can say she was properly balanced. Simply reverting the falloff change without a compensation buff would have made her ‘properly balanced’
Only reason she felt awful to play in lower ranks was that genji, sombra, and sojourn were(SJ still is) so stupidly broken it didn’t make sense to play anyone else.
Seems like we can’t ever have a balanced DPS roster in this game. There’s always 2 or 3 that at so disgustingly overtuned with the rest not worth picking or mid at best.
It was already proven that tracer with OW1 damage and no CC to contest was horrible game design for support players.
Even assuming the falloff bug existed since the Alpha, it wasn’t commonly known until recently, therefore it wasn’t being abused in OWL and she was still a top 3 DPS in the game.
If you exclude the Summer Showdown Qualifiers (Junkerqueen Meta), Tracer was the highest usage DPS hero overall for the entire 2022 OWL Season, surpassing even Sojourn.
The falloff bug is notably less impactful than the Pharah bug which reduced her ultimate cost from 2100 to 1540, yet Pharah who was already in a bad spot with this bug did not get any compensation for having it fixed. Tracer did not need to be compensated for her bugfix.
Lol no. You don’t have the winrate + pick rate statistics, the ow team do. They saw she wasn’t even doing that well with the bug, and figured she’d be trash if it got removed. So yes she needed compensation.
The OW team are notoriously bad at balancing their game and even more worse at anticipating how changes they make will affect the game at the highest level.
There is no way to justify reverting Tracer’s damage to it’s OW1 levels when the majority of DPS in the game are weaker than their OW1 counterparts and Tracer had already proven to be extremely problematic in 5v5 when OWL players were given alpha access.
She was statistically a Top 3 hero in the game at the highest level overall and the only thing keeping her from holding the crown as the most used hero in the 2022 OWL Season was a single meta where she was not played due to Junkerqueen’s dominance forcing the meta to become Brig/Lucio rush.
