XP is based primarily on the duration of the match. Things like gold medals award only a very tiny amount of additional bonus XP.
1 bajillion times this. I’ll never get mad at people in QP for playing a character and/or if they’re “not good at it”. If it’s that much of an issue, go play comp. And if someone wants to practice, no they shouldn’t just sit in the training room first. Super sick of this mentality from players. Go play comp or make your own 6 stack, that’s literally it. Otherwise I don’t want to hear crap from you.
Good for you, I literally said in my post, that I play the game, and I try to win, but I am not going to freak out and go try hard in quickplay just to get some xp. You want people to act seriously and try their absolute best to win? Go to comp. Quickplay is meant to quickly get into a short little match and have fun.
No, I play QP and form my own LFG for Serious QP. I get what I want without dealing with the stupid Comp match rules (I hate how Comp matches work), and I get to avoid players with your mindset. We’re all happy.
You’re that delusional person that thinks it’s your “team’s fault” and that you’re being held back by the people you queue with. Also, anyone that talks medals or stats is missing the point of actual team work.
But if you would just have fun yourself, then it wouldn’t be considered “disrupting others”.
It’s on you for taking it too seriously, not on them for not taking it seriously enough.
Wrong. I am well aware of my own faults in the game. When I did play Comp, which I stopped doing a year ago simply because I didn’t enjoy how the match rules worked in that mode, I was high Bronze. Why was I Bronze? Because of my own faults and aging twitch reflexes. I never blamed my teammates for my own short comings.
I long accepted that I will be Bronze for Life. I’m fine with that.
So, nice try, but don’t assume you know me simply because I feel that playing a PvP game means playing to win, period.
Playing to win does not mean you can’t relax and enjoy the process at the same time. Does winning make you stressed or something?
Winning chillz me out, I laugh, get picks, move on. I’m not even sure what the op means when he says “play seriously” I don’t need to be intense to try, that sounds like the perfect way to make urself unfocused and easily tilted.
I hate it when people don’t try at all, today I’ve had several healers and tanks leave or throw just because we lost the first point
You get 350 bonus XP for winning. 1500 XP if it’s your first win of the day.
Any disparity past that has absolutely nothing to do with your win or loss. As in the outcome of the game has next to no significance on the reward for simply playing it. So yea, if tryharding gets you nothing, might as well just play for fun and have what happens happen regardless.
Majority of XP is based on match length. Being steamrolled because your team is just out to relax and do whatever, will get you less XP than if your team is trying and the match goes on.
Thus, since I make LFG serious groups, I average around 4k XP per match. They go on, because we are absolutely playing to win and build a comp and switch-comp around that.
Even then, you just prove the person’s point. It’s only 1k difference in XP gained (~200 xp per minute, with only 5 additional minutes at most).
Not worth the extra stress in a mode that’s supposed to be chill.

Except I mentioned XP only in response to him. I don’t play to win due to the XP. I play to win because this is a PvP game. If I want to just chill and mess around and just blow crap up to relax, I have Borderlands 2 and other PvE shooters for that, where I can play on my own and not screw over anyone else.
But we’re not going to change each other’s mind, and any debate is just going to keep going around in circles. I’m out. You guys all have a nice day.

Good for you.
And if I don’t?
Now what?
Don’t think you’re bronze (just) because of your mechanic skills.
I’ve played on diamond / master level amatuer teams in Overwatch; played in top level clans in CS; raided in top 20 world WoW guilds, and achieved other top level accolades. I played with the people I did at those levels because I expected those people to be at that level. I never assumed in a PUG match or a random dungeon for the other people to be amazing, or not even “noobs”. I went with it and did my best and tried to help the other people. If I wanted to and EXPECTED people to play at my same high level, guess what I did… That’s right I made my own group and did whatever activity I wanted.
Do you think Lebron James or any other athlete would get mad at people by going to a park or pick up game and the other people weren’t going “hard in the paint”. If you go into a random non-competitive environment and get mad at people not being extremely competitive, then you’re just a jerk. Many people need to check themselves.
Quick play is a wind down mode. Not a competitive mode

You guys all have a nice day.
Bye have a good time
I report people for gameplay sabotage because of them saying “it’s just QM”.
I woud never tryhard in qp. I love qp for playing heros i dont play in comp. Like hanzo widow or others.
And i woud never shotcall the way i do in ranked.
So qp is for fun ranked for serious games.
