I would love this. She could have her stealth as a death escape like Moira has. Cuz like most of them have a death escape anyways. Who cares, right.
She could hack the enemies or hack the friend for buffs. The stealth fantasy would still be there.
The OW player made it very clear that a stealth assassin is not welcomed in this game. Literally anything else is going to be better.
Please read everything before replying, because then you would know that there are enough reasons why Sombra cannot heal, or should not be able to heal.
we did the same with meele dps heroes. thats why we are at nr 3 right now.
Lore and personality are separate from gameplay. I don’t think Zenyatta is a killer robot in the lore. Lore-wise Echo was made to have a more supportive role and to help people, but in-game she does 9/11.

I think if they iterated on Mirrorwatch Sombra, she could be the most fun version of herself yet! (and finally escape the bans)

That sombra was still a dps, she still had loads of damage. Just she could also buff her team. With basically a mini-lucio ult that gave an attack speed bonus.
Sombra from Overwatch 1 with some buffs could work, her CC is so strong and can be balanced by her not having strong healing outside health packs and maybe on CD.
As a Sombra main, I actually agree. I don’t think Mirrorwatch Sombra was a fully realized concept but it was fun and it worked decently. Add in the ability for her to place her own health packs and add some kind of supportive capability with her gun (maybe her friendly hacks let her gun heal her teammates based on her damage?) and she could be a very unique support.
However, I still would want her to keep her enemy Hack. It doesn’t make sense for her to go full white hat hacker. Maybe she could be rewarded with “intel” when she hacks enemies and then use that to buff her teammates or place healthpacks?
Regardless of if the devs go support or DPS with her now, I don’t think her design could get much worse at this point.

You’re mixing things up. I’m talking about the aspect and identity of a character, while you’re talking about lore. They are closely related and easy to confuse, but they are not the same thing.
Your examples also don’t really work as comparisons. Zenyatta is a monk, and his lore reflects that. Everything else, lore-wise, is irrelevant to this discussion. Your comparison would only make sense if Zen were a 50-meter-tall titan who destroys entire cities.
Echo is a bit more fitting, since her theme is adaptability, but even then she’s a rather pointless comparison. Echo can be anything without anyone being able to argue against it.
Sombra, however, is very precisely defined in all areas. Her theme, identity, aspect, role, and purpose are already clearly set. Trying to push Sombra into something else just because she’s annoying is understandable, but very selfish, especially since the people doing so neither play her nor are willing to make any kind of compromise. So why should we listen to those people?
Lets not kid ourselves, people demanding a support rework do that because they dont want to deal with her on the enemy team, not because they want to play as or with a support Sombra.
As a support I’d actually hate idea of Sombra being a support. Look at how her fan club plays her now.
No thanks.
by that logic so is zarya and genji and ana and illari and reinhardt. All are based around toxic play where you just get in and kill and use get out of jail free cards or just deny any ability to fight back, so should we remove them as well?
She wont be reworked because Blizzard is just ignoring the problems with the hero. So dont expect ANYTHING to be done with her.
For me personally, if she was like Juno, I’d definitely play her. I don’t currently because I think she has a cheesy gimmick to her kit that is the most annoying in the game, and even if somehow I did enjoy that gimmick, she gets banned 99 percent of times on console from Bronze to Diamond
You do make a good point though, I would be happy to not have to deal with her when she doesn’t get banned as well
So for me it’s win win. I play on console by the way and I’m diamond rank, where Sombra has a really high win rate
I think it would have to be done well. If she becomes a support, she should be more of a utility support like Zen or Lucio with low single-target healing and is more focused on dishing out damage and setting up plays.
I could see Sombra as a playmaker, staying in stealth and revealing enemies for her teammates, jumping in to assist, and jumping out. Maybe Hacked enemies drop a mini-health pack when they die like Lifeweaver’s old passive, empowering allies to go for the shots she calls.
No, please, no.
Sombra’s identity is fundamentally built around denial, manipulation, and control, not care or protection.
- Her abilities remove options from enemies rather than enabling allies.
- She creates value by making opponents weaker, not by making teammates stronger.
- Turning her into a support contradicts her core fantasy as a hacker who exploits others for personal gain.
A support hero should feel like a source of safety — Sombra is designed to feel like a threat.
Her Personality Directly Conflicts With the Support Role
Support heroes in Overwatch are typically portrayed as:
- Altruistic
- Protective
- Emotionally invested in their team’s survival
Sombra, by contrast:
- Is selfish, sarcastic, and opportunistic
- Treats others as tools or leverage
- Helps only when it benefits her long-term plans
Reworking her into a support forces her into a role that requires empathy and responsibility, which directly clashes with her established character.
Important Clarification: Moira Is an Exception, Not a Counterexample
Moira does not disprove the pattern — she redefines it in a limited, controlled way.

They said this is the final Sombra rework. If they turn her into a Support, it would 100% require major tuning for a while, even a further rework.
They want to satisfy Sombra players as well as people playing into Sombra and making her a Support would change her identity too much that she will not feel like Sombra anymore (unless she had very minimal healing revolving around hacked health packs). Sombra mains would not like it, so don’t expect it to happen.
Odds are extremely unlikely she’s becoming a Support even though I would personally love a stealth healer.
They also said even after a lot of internal testing on new iterations, nothing has felt right, so I’m hoping they come to the conclusion she must be changed to support, and hopefully that’s why it’s taking so long to rework her
She is not a support hero. That is not her concept or role. Period.
Agreed, not yet at least. But Doom wasn’t a tank either. And every attempt at making Sombra a stealthy, hacker dps has failed.
So maybe it’s time to try something that the community doesn’t hate and won’t ban 99 percent of all games at every rank but top .01 percent who can deal with her
I get why people want her to keep her identity, but would you rather have her as a playable support, or a perma-banned dps?
