If Soldier being gay really bugs you

It doesn’t bug me at all. I’m just glad Jack x Gabe was finally put to rest.

Reyes had a family. During the christmas comic you can see him stalking a woman and her husband/boyfriend and being all depressed and stuff. It’s heavily implied that he stalks his ex-wife.

It is completely normal to stalk your ex-wife. Not that I do that, but if I did, I would be normal for sure. REAPER IS NORMAL!

Good point, which is exactly what they did in a way. He really didn’t come out and say it, but there was enough suggestive dialogue to imply it. Leaves the door open for interpretation, but for my money I say he is. But yeah your right, gameplay wise who cares? he needs buffs.

i just think there’s no need for pseudo-sexual orientation for game characters.

in wow i always said:
“i don’t care what you identify with as long as you don;t stand in fire and do your job”

but i can’t find anything to say here since the game revolves around association apparently.

questionable game design imo.

were here to game not to wave a flag.
or at least i thought…

we’ll see if overwatch is still successful in a couple more years i’ll rethink the stance ; but i do think there’s no room for that BS in gaming.

Did not think of that. Very true.

You say that, but it’s pretty clear Blizzard isn’t capable of creating lore and working on the game at the same time. Considering there is a team specifically for creating lore, they must be sitting around doing nothing for most the week.

I don’t see the big deal. Spartans were also super “gay” by definition, but they were total badasses.

Jack is still Jack, and he’s still an awesome character, just like how Tracer was when the “news” came out.

Who cares, find something better to get worked up about, and just be happy we’re getting more lore again.

The lore team working on lore is not slowing the game developers down.

It most likely is in ways we can’t see. It’s using more resources that could have been put into a new social feature. I don’t understand people sometimes. They’d rather find out a character is gay, rather than getting something that might actually improve their gameplay experience.

I don’t mind him being gay but I find it kinda funny how people are making such a huge deal out of it when it is supposed to be normal. Remember when Torb was confirmed to be straight? Me neither because nobody cared.

Tracer being openly gay has also bothered me since launch. I’m not biased.

I really don’t think you understand the concept of ‘seperate teams work on seperate things’. The lore team doing their job is not slowing down the game developers. If it were, we would have seen much more content in 2018.

You’re free to not like the lore, but don’t kid yourself and pretend that the lore development is the reason why new content is so slow.

Blizzard is putting more resources into lore. Meaning less for the development team.

im not even mad, ive been sitting here laughing for a good 10 minutes straight since i found out.

because its so clearly a story element out of left field (game came out in 2016, at the start of 2019 they finally announce soldier is gay, atleast tracer was within like 6 months from launch before they retcond the characters non existance social life). which is fair, storys do that all of the time.

but that was one hell of a random thing too slip into a story. and so i giggled

bonus is anyone who wants to main ‘gay’ heroes can now main tracer+soldier which also coinsides with “tracking” heroes. you can put a half on zarya and you got yourself a hero pool!

Or maybe they’re putting the same amount of resources in as they always have, except now the lore team are actually doing something?

I don’t support something unnatural automatically meaning that I am blind to the outside world and need to start rethinking my view on life.

It’s not him being gay that bugs me, it’s the way they REVEALED it they left no hints of foreshadowing except one comic slide of him gazing at a picture and if you want to claim I’m homophobic, I’m gay sweetie

It feels like ridiculous fan service and it’s laughable.

You expect too much out of the community Jello

Idk, it will probably bug some people who don’t read the story and just hear about it because of the current political turmoil and divided groups and list it off as virtue signalling, but to be honest, after reading it, I’m not even mad, I’m impressed!

The story was rich and fleshed out, more so than any of their previous takes on lore, and breaking the news that he is gay? It took up a whole 3 or so lines, hardly any fuss about it, it felt natural in its introduction, and that is literally the PERFECT way to add that bit of character development in. A lot of the time it can fall under complete cringe and overzealously displaying and portraying their in game characters as gay or some such thing, and they just SHOVE it in there where it doesn’t feel right, and that leaves a sour taste in peoples mouths, but they avoided the cringe, they avoided making it a HUGE DEAL, but they got the message across. I loved the entire story.

10/10 blizzard. I thought i was gunna be mad about you virtue signalling, but it’s legitimately just good story telling and character development, hes not gay for the sake of you garnering support, it just fits right in there natrually. This is TOP TIER storytelling. I love it.
