I expect they do the same as TF2 and give a cosmetic with a “legacy” description to identify the players that paid for the game. It will probably be a player profile icon.
If this will be a thing, i’m pretty sure that they should divide who bought and who played free. I mean like other games did.
Anyway, it’s better 20$/€ than nothing
not semantics. it’s literally unplayable without paying. so it is NOT free. theyre selling OG WOW with subscriptions so theyre still selling it. people can’t even log on due to server limits so theyre literally getting paid to not host people’s game.
I only had an issue during the first few days, and I haven’t paid a single dollar for Classic WoW. Classic WoW has $0 cost for people who already played the game. It only has a cost for people who only subbed up for Classic. It’s completely semantical.
then it’s not free. you still have to pay for a subscription for it. just like a buy 2 get one “free” deal isn’t free. you’re still paying for it. it’s identical to buy one get one 50% off.
bc that’s what a subscription costs. it’s not free for them either.
it’s not! regardless if you currently or do NOT currently subscribe you HAVE to PAY to PLAY.
it’s like renting a car. the car wasn’t free and regardless if you paid last month for the car you STILL have to pay for the CURRENT month.
you just cant admit youre wholeheartedly wrong and are making a false excuse
Starcraft 1 is not Starcraft 2…
thats what became free SC2 didn’t. SC1 didnt go free until it had a remaster in 2017. beforehand it wasn’t free.
Starcraft 2 is F2P my friend.
I know
let me rephrase it. SC1 took almost 20 years to be free. SC2 took 7 years. OW is nowhere near either. OW wont go F2P bare min for not a long time.
also again they were selling a remaster of the original at the time. a way to make money and encourage purchases

I agree, but you need to admit you were simply wrong. You literally said Starcraft 2 wasn’t F2P when it is lol
Classic is an additional feature of WoW. You don’t pay for Classic WoW, you pay for WoW. If you rent a car, and they throw in an air freshener, you’re not paying for the air freshener, even though you’re paying for the car. You’re failing to understand that the cost is wrapped into a greater platform.
Like you’re not paying at watch Birdbox or Stranger Things, you’re paying to use Netflix. Birdbox and Stranger Things had no additional cost, so while the content is behind a pay wall, it doesn’t actually cost anything if you already use the service (unless you pay extra for data usage).
Ya feel? Understanding how it’s wrapped up in semantics now?
star craft 2 was announced free later in the year kid.
April 19, 2017 date SC1 went free
November 3 and 4 Sc2 went free
so guess what at the time Sc1 went free SC2 was NOT Free
AT THAT TIME. it wasnt for free until 6+ months later. i was not wrong. you just dont now when what became free.
Don’t worry. Here, have a non animated spray.
and some tank nerfs in addition…
I don’t need f2p Gibus Widows, Symmetras, or Trobs.
Making OW f2p will do more harm than good.
Depends what brings in more $.
Blizzard’s revenue related to Overwatch comes in from people buying the game, buying lootboxes, buying items related to the game, and OWL and all it’s related items.
If Blizzard gives part of the game away for free they will lose sales from the people that want to play that part of the game but for some reason hadn’t bought it yet.
They will also lose sales from the people that are turned off by F2P that spent/were going to spend in other areas.
It may also hurt sales on future games of a similar type as players may wait for it to go F2P or may pass because they think it may go F2P.
In exchange, they will pick up some new sales from people that buy the full game after trying the free part, sales of lootboxes from people trying it, sales of other items related to the game from people trying it, and potentially increase the number of viewers of OWL as well as potentially increasing spending on OWL.
IMHO We’ll be seeing a limited F2P if they don’t have a sequel coming and they think OWL will succeed.
Their track record shows they are willing to make games f2p so that arguement is out the window. And they are not selling classic for more money. So no, on both fronts here youre wrong.
LOL
Carry on, kid
no it doesn’t out of all their released games they only made 2 F2P of which had a PAID remaster. Im not aware of any other of their games going F2P let alone b4 7-20 years of being out.
yet theyre selling it. they have a product that replaced the other. and SC2 also makes people wanna play the original esp one with better graphics and such.
so no im not. they very rarely do it and they have products that can replace it. Plus those again were out for 20 and 7 years respectively.
OW wont go F2P let alone any time soon. OW would need so much more stuff to go F2P and the LB content will not be enough to warrant it. people already buy the game multiple times for extra accounts.
F2P OW is nothing more than conjecture. not once tiny thing has been released to confirm or even imply it.
and you carry on being wrong! dont lose that stupid (something on your level to understand)
You said it goes against their history. It doesnt, theyve made games f2p in the past, all im saying is that means they could be open to doing ow in the future. Classic doesnt cost “more” money, its just the same as before.
I think there is a chance ow goes f2p in the next year. I am of course not sure of this, never said i was. I just thought your points were sketchy at best. Also neither of your points really exclude it from happening, wow is different than any other franchise in history, and just because blizz hasnt in the past doesnt determine the future.
Theyre trying to build an esport out of ow and with the franchise model its new territory for them. So they do new things. Also with them pushing a league f2p makes sense, increase the player base.
