This unironically makes a lot of sense, Mei should’ve never been DPS
I have been saying this!! Let her turn into a big snowman for her ult, like Ramatra form change but only for her ult
No thanks. He should have been a tank from start.
Except for that fact that his kit doesn’t fit as a tank and is more DPS based. Saying “he should have been a tank from the start” is you believing in a make believe situation with an entirely different hero because as long as doomfist has been the hero he is, with the abilities he has, nothing about him points to the tank role.
DPS Doom is never coming back and we thank god for that. A hero who was reliant on spending a minute of abusing map geometry and buggy “tech” to set up for a one shot kill that the enemy can’t do anything about before he leaves the fight and proceeds to contribute nothing else for another minute is horrid design. He’s gone and never coming back outside of OW Classic modes.
y’all are exactly like the Mass Rez Mercy people who still cry and beg for it back loll
Go back to ruining the GOATs classic mode and leave the normal game to the rest of us pls tyyy
Doom always should have been a tank. He’s the leader of Talon like Ram is the leader of Null Sector and Winston is the leader of Overwatch. He’s a giant strong imposing man known for leveling skyscrapers. Literally his origin video shows him unbothered towering over Genji and Tracer while they fail to even leave a scratch on him and then he tanks on Primal Rage Winston. His entire personality, lore, design, etc. has always been that of a tank hero. He never worked as a DPS and never should have been one. Doom and Sigma being the Talon tanks just makes sense. He’s finally what he was supposed to be from the start.
He protects his team by drawing aggro away from his team. Sometimes, he can tank better than the likes of Reinhardt because he makes the enemy forget about shooting his teammates, physically turn around, and start shooting him instead.
I get the logic, but I main support and 95% of the time, Doomfist is charging at me and I’m lucky if my dps are bothering to peel. No, they’re too busy chasing enemy supports to care about their own.
Dps Doom was unbearable and unfun to play against. He isn’t coming back.
People who argue against dps doom never fail to make themselves sound like the worst player in overwatch.
The enemy team can do plenty to prevent both his one shot and his combo. But regardless of that, no one is saying bring him just as he was. The point is about making him work in the dps role.
None of this matters because his KIT doesn’t fit the tank role. He has the kit of a DPS hero. The kit matters more than inconsequential lore that hasn’t mattered in years.
it’s almost as if, you can balance the character different and change him to actually be less frustrating without shoving him in a role he doesn’t belong in!!!
Personally, I think he is more balanced as a tank. A small hitbox flying around and one shotting people can be really difficult to deal with; it requires an amount of coordination that you pretty much have to play Comp to get. But then you have to deal with the downside of playing comp, so you can’t win.
Small hitbox???
Small hitbox???
Doomfist???
Even as a DPS he was the size of a tank, what are we talking about lmao.
Doom did not require that much coordination. Especially since even in comp, you don’t get coordination anyway. Very rarely do you get that.
And he still ended up not being good most of the time.
I’m not being serious… I was poking fun at how people want Mei as a tank.
Idc regardless of if she is moved or not
I mean relatively small. Small in the same way Zarya’s or Junkerqueen is “small” for what she does.
He did in my experience. People couldn’t anticipate him sliding off a roof, killing someone, and then flying away.
That changes a bit as you go up. I don’t even mean verbal communication exclusively, I mean something as simple as your DPS knowing you’re dived and will walk left so the DPS players know exactly how to help you. And even then, its not perfect (because it can’t be), but I can physically feel the difference when higher ranked players are helping me in Quick Play. Its like night and day.
TRUE, but damage doom was more fun to look at, I think.
idk this is a strange pov. you’re arguing that mei is basically a tank. i see your point. if anything, that means mei should move category, not doom?
my point is that the entire shtick of “tanks should have the CC” and doom being moved because of that makes zero sense since he lost 2/3 of his CC, other heroes outside of tank got to keep or regain their CC abilities, and his kit just flat out is more DPS than it is tank.
None of this matters because he is a tank now and staying that way.
womp
Horrific attempt at a rebuttal because you realized your point actually made no sense and mine quite easily broke it down.
Yes, he is a tank now. That doesn’t mean I’m not allowed to provide feedback and say “He shouldn’t be”.
Stuns are the big thing they removed, Ana was the stupid exception aside from ultimates
We’d still have to see in what capacity Mei’s freeze comes back. It’s no doubt going to be a major perk(maybe they said that, I forget) and they did say it’s going to be less overbearing than previously. So you don’t have to deal with it for that long in a match and it likely won’t be as good as before either.
Also Doomfist is much better in the tank role, both for the health of the game and for the consistency of his value. Damage Doom was even more unreliable than tank Doom can be while also being much more frustrating to deal with. The game is better with him as a tank and you can see that from the Classic modes.
You can’t put Mei in the tank role for a variety of reasons, but the big one is that Mei herself is just not tank sized. Her character model is too small to be a tank and you can’t just make her big without making a fool of yourself for trying, that’s straight up an April Fool’s change.
Tanks have to be larger to justify their durability and Doomfist is tank sized on top of the other reasons he’s better off there.
I don’t really see how his kit(with the block of course) fits tank any less than Hammond, Junker Queen, or Zarya do
He’s a big dangerous target that will stun and displace your entire team while not falling over at a slight gust of wind, what’s not tank-like about him?
