Don’t worry… it’s not your fault or gameplay causing this every single game in a loss streak. I’m playing as consistent as is allowed by the rest of the team. Doing everything I can to maximize the team’s chances, but the streak continues to 8+ games. The real question is how is it possible if the game is working an intended? There’s only ONE possibility and that’s that Blizzard has no control over the problematic issues such as smurfs, throwers, leavers, cheaters skewing the MM. For someone to drop this many ranks with a loss streak defies statistics and isn’t computationally sound unless you are literally throwing on purpose.
This comp game is cooked and so is the MM. Blizzard has done absolutely nothing to address these types of problems aside from enacting a time penalty on leavers. Until they do, the MM will be inherently flawed and will rarely produce a fair “competitive” game. Just get used to it. I used to play comp for good games, but lately it’s been a lesson in torture and annoyance. Blizzard allows these factors to continually compromise the game and it creates dissent between teammates and contributes to the overall dissatisfaction of players.
And hey… it’s not a problem. It’s designed this way. GRIND MF’R. GRIND! Blizzard DOES NOT CARE as long as you keep loading up the game, paying for skins, etc. The only recourse available is to vote with your time/money and QUIT the game. The psychology is proven and overall it produces profit no matter what it does to the players.
I say this from experience, especially this season as someone who went Diamond 5 to Plat 4 to Diamond 5 again…
Sometimes the other possibility is:
Frustrating loss → playing next match poorly because of frustration & bad decisions → losing again → frustration fueled → even poorer decisions during next match → cycle repeats
Absolutely, but I find that only sets in after a streak. Most players are used to a loss or two in the mix, but the streaks are what really put you off, and Blizzard has fully acknowledged the “end of season” matches as they call it that skew the living F out of the MM. They are fully aware and have done absolutely nothing to mitigate it… because they can’t do it reliably or it doesn’t support the business plan.
They should get rid of Drive, though. It’s horrendous. Just reward us properly throughout the season and people will play it. The “rush to play comp in 4 days to get temporary rewards, and to make more comp points in these 4 days than you could in 4 weeks” is stupid IMO.
I dropped to d5 from mid masters this season after a chat ban. After a stream of genuinely unwinable games, the game seemed to have realised that my gameplay is not that of a glorified plat and i climbed back with relative ease.
I will say though that ever since they started doing the rank resets in s9, i just don’t have the time to climb back to gm anymore
Naa… you just don’t understand the situation and how it works. End of season is fully acknowledged by Blizzard to be a time when exactly this can happen… and for a reason… that they cannot reliably mitigate.
I’ve never heard of anyone starting in bronze. You literally have to drop (and ruin a lot of games) to get there. No wonder why everyone in bronze thinks they don’t belong there. Just one of many flaws in a terrible ranking system.
They are absolutely 100% reasons you drop. How can they not cause a drop? Are you trying to say if YOU have a leaver or a smurf on your team you will win 99% of the time because you’re epic? Sure… you’re epically FOS!
