Idea to make Kiriko less picked at high ranks but still good

The most contentious part of Kiriko/thing that counters the most heroes is her suzu. Instead of having suzu cleanse, maybe it could reduce the effectiveness of status effects (like lower stun time, less time for anti heal/allows for some healing to get through, etc.) and to compensate for it being weaker, it could have a lower cooldown and/or more healing and/or give overhealth and/or speed boost and/or some other buff(s). I don’t know whether or not the invulnerability should be kept, maybe it could be but it could be reduced. Anyways, this way Kiriko could still have the unique utility of being able to counter status effects but it would lower the frustration of people on the opposing team, it would reduce suzu’s defensive capabilities but give it some more offensive capabilities, and it would make her less picked at high ranks.

So you want to remove literally the only support counter for Anit?

Nerf anti effect first, then we can talk about Suzu changes.

Ana isn’t that strong right now. If anti/other stuff got too powerful if suzu got reworked like this then they could just nerf anti or whatever else. Besides, I don’t think its good for the game’s meta to be defined so much by one character’s ability. If a bunch of stuff suddenly got powerful after a suzu rework, that says more about suzu’s power than the power of those other abilities.

It was too powerful, that’s why Suzu exists.

Like anti.

Kiriko is played for headshot damage, decent heals and mobility.
The suzu is an extra on top of that.

You could make the same argument of removing the status effects entirely then suzu wouldn’t matter as well…

Too bad. There are plenty of abilities on lower cooldowns to block things and “counter” things just as, if not, easier.

There are plenty of more powerful abilities in the damage and tank roster which are also sometimes on shorter cooldowns. Maybe it’s time to stop witch hunting supports just because they have a useful tool. There’s an abundance of cc and burst damage, plenty of ways for people to get combo’d and melted, suzu is not a problem.

No, because that would require changing multiple abilities, would remove a key aspect of the game, and it would limit future hero designs.

They already removed the boop from suzu, when will it end :sob:

I’m glad we finally have a support ability (not ultimates) that can counter Ana’s antiheal. Plus with the dps passive going rampant at 20% a cleanse is needed, otherwise burst damage would run things over faster than they normally do.

As a frequent Ashe and Mauga enjoyer it’s healthy she can cleanse their burning effects and Sombra’s hack even if I might not enjoy it in the moment.

Exactly. If anything Kitsune Rush is a great support ultimate that tips her over the edge.

Combine that with beat, amp matrix or a discording Zen and things melt very fast.

Although it was funny during Hog meta Ana and Kiriko both saw play just to beef up and negate Roadhog’s effectiveness.

I’m not “witch hunting supports” I’m just offering a suggestion. I’m not even advocating to nerf her, I’m saying they should restructure her power budget. If anything, these changes could make Kiriko more powerful at average and lower ranks. It is a fact that Kiriko has remained one of the most played heroes at top levels and they complain about her constantly, I’m just trying to offer a solution so that Kiriko players can still have fun but high level players don’t have to play against her as much.

Only thing Suzu needs removed is the invulnerability, they gave it more healing ontop of what it already did so that part isn’t really needed anymore. Invulns in general annoy people to much.

That’s why I said if anti got too powerful if Kiriko’s cleanse got changed to a status effect softener, they could just nerf nade. Or they could buff how much the suzu effects anti/its overhealth/whatever else.

Im hoping the plan is to nerf nade after looking at Mirrorwatch. And after nade is nerfed they can then look at sustain tanks better.

Tracer and Sojourn in every game make most other supports feel like garbage to play

Why do you think the tops picks are Kiriko, Lucio, and Moira?

They can actually SURVIVE

Suzu needs the invincibility removed and cleanse duration added to it. 4 sec duration

People lose their mind because Suzu lasts 0.65 seconds

Think of the tears of people if you couldn’t CC/ Stun/ Boop/ Anti/ Hack someone for 4 full seconds

I mean people STILL think Anti lasts too long and it’s only 3 seconds now

Dunno why people do this.

They ask for changes, but ignore the sideeffects of what they are asking for.

I really don’t care people complain about it and saying this someone who plays Mei. Game is about baiting abilities and waiting them out

Then Suzu is fine where it is?

Bait it out, now you can go pew-pew and get your big kill streaks without worry

The support roster is too small still to have variety.

  • Lucio, Brig, and Zenyatta are not built to be generalist heroes. They are niche support picks meant to be used with particular combinations.
  • Baptiste/Illari are trash at supporting any comp type that isn’t slow or poke favored.
  • Ana has the utility to be a generalist support to siatuationally handle dive, poke, brawl, and really any combination.
  • Mercy is virtually never meta along with Moira.

The only new support that was built to be generalist with her kit was Kiriko. Even early on in OW2 Blizzard had to buff Kiriko because she was performing poorly. She’s not oppressive and mostly is simply the only support that feels good to use without being a niche hero.
