I'd watch OWL if it had a section for low ranks

No such thing, bro.
I love all OW brethren from console and PC.
I had been advocating and thinking of cross play since i started playing 2 years back and realised that OW is available on XBox and PS4 + Nintendo Switch now.

I mean i came from a MMO background, specifically Final Fantasy XI and XIV where we had cross play from the get-go. I mean if Square Enix can do it, why not Blizzard? Especially since Blizzard is supposedly so much bigger than SE.
Sure, there would be technical issue but just cap the frame rates and have a separate section for Cross Play. What is so hard about that?
I mean both FFXI and FFXIV have PvP as well.

Ha ha! My son and my daughter before him played OW on a 5 year old laptop so… and let me tell you this, my daughter, who is 15 now ( i am 45), was kicking my butt on the 5 year old laptop when we 1v1 and she was only 13/14 years old!
So the moral of the story is i suck and a kid with old tech can kick my butt! Which means that you can too!

You’re the most positive person I’ve encountered on the forums, you deserve the next MVP skin

People would just smurf in that too

Many people are streaming their Open Division games and you really find people from Bronze to T500 in that tournament.

Though unfortunately it isn’t separated by ranks, which turns many of the games into one sided stomps that are most probably not very entertaining to watch…

just watch any boston match, you will get plenty of bronze gameplay moments from watching them

Ha ha! Thanks, dude.

Well, i suck at the game objectively so no way to ever obtain a MVP.

There are a number of positive forumers but they have left… =(
Ah well.

Here’s your issue. The first few days you get a Bronze 6 stack together with comms, and a strategy no more advanced then “Tanks are running Orisa-Sig every match, stay behind the shields!” they’ll skyrocket out of Bronze.

The things that would make a low rank league appealing to you: the chaos, odd team comps, crazy 6v1s, weird flanks and unexpected situations, would stop existing in any form of league format regardless of where you picked the players from initially.

After a few scrims and coaching sessions it would resemble any other tourney, just slower.

Didn’t we used to have a cup on reddit called Scrub cup, where one of the requirements was that your account could never had ever risen above platinum? I remember back in 2018 it was very fun to watch, because they were being seriously coached by high tier players, but they clearly were fumbling on themselves despite having solid strategy.

ho ho ho, that’s where you’re wrong friend.
i will keep making the same mistakes over and over again.

IDK. Maybe I’m just in the minority here, but that sounds awful.

Have you watched any Chengdu games? The “Chengdu zone” is a meme for a reason. The games are nothing if not crazy, and while still obviously high skilled, tend to have a ladder-like feel and reliability.

As for a Bronze league, it’s not a bad idea in of itself, but is the type of thing that should be community run.

Sadly this would be the laughing stock of the OW world. I can see streamers going crazy mocking the players.

I mean, from a business standpoint it is a complete waste of money.

But some all stars matches from other games do have players playing pros just for the lols. I know that’s what Dota 2 been doing for the past couple of years.

It is fun to watch ngl, but as an All Star match.

Have you ever spectated low elo scrims and high elo scrims? I have. I’ve managed, coached, played and have been invited to watch scrims of all elo’s (gold-GM). The reason why we don’t have low elo matches in OWL is because the tempo is way too slow and a disorganized mess. It would lower view count even more than it already is.

If you want to watch low elo matches, I would suggest looking around Twitch to see if there’s any official matches going on from tournaments. GGNA is a good one to look out for, as they often stream their matches with casters, and have a wide range of elo.

That’s what makes it enjoyable.

I would love that idea, like LoL had it for a long time and CS, but that was community runned and funny as hell. I would instantly sub in for this.

Hm, debatable. To each their own I guess.

For me personally, watching low elo players makes me frustrated from a coaching standpoint lol.

What’s frustrating about it tho

Maybe them doing stupid things? For me it’s fun part of watching low tiers - in high tiers everyone are trained by same guides, so players become almost indistinguishable from one another.

I would love it . For example, I prefer college sports more than the pro scene. The raw resent and creativity is such a blast. It’s also why I like the Olympics. Seeing people motivated to just do well is honestly what gives the floor so much more dynamics and exceptionally wonderful play
