Most Sym players that i met are just meh, mediocre players at best. Tracers, on the other hand, if they are good with her, i know for sure they are good with most DPS as well. Doom for sure has a lot of good players.
Certain type of heroes attract certain type of players. You would rarely see good players wasting time with such niche heroes like Sym. There are few exceptions but it s true on the grand scheme of things.
Imagine if they gave Sym a 16m beam and faster orbs to make her good on Havana. She would be even bigger nightmare on koth maps with her TP. She needs to be niche with her current design
In proplay. Go play Sym in actual ladder. Using team TP, the only part thats worth using on Sym, is like herding cats.
And being good in 2-3 maps for a gimmick that she has no agency over is not a mutually exclusive idea with being overnerfed. She is awful in every other single map.
Soldier already has a 30m instant max charge Sym beam with an aimbot ultimate and instant burst finisher. 16m Sym beam is literally nothing.
Her current design of what? Do you know that Sym has been nerfed several times already for the sake of keeping the garbage OWL-exclusive team TP gimmick right? Orbs, beams, sentries, personal TP, barrier ult… everything has been nerfed already and she was nowhere near meta.
I rather choose Sym/Doom meta. At least it would be different.
I don’t know why people dislike Sym. She has plenty of counters, no quick mobility, and is quite squishy.

Because its has become easier to blame sentries for player mistakes than to own said player mistakes. Scapegoat their own messes up with allegations of No Skill. I have seen this even if they are killed by perfectly aimed orbs.
Everything Sym can do except team TP is a gimped version of another hero, and team TP in ladder is like trying to herd cats.

Typically Metas are driven by things being overtuned, which is obnoxious.
It doesn’t matter WHICH meta ends up there, it should be dealt with pretty quickly.
This is VERY much a thing with the “no skill” heroes. Mei freezes you? She obviously is a no skill hero, even though you ended up standing in front of her without a shield or escape for the time to do so.
People have a real hate on the “heroes which punish mistakes hard”.
That being said there is a argument to be had there, that situations like that was not down to their skill, but a lack of your skill.
I always see it as “out played vs out aimed” though.

I still remember when Sym was “meta” for like a week and when people were showing clips of how “busted” she was it was like them on Orisa dropping a barrier right in front of her and then looking at the enemy tank. Then they come screaming about her unstoppable beam attack that they literally gave to her.

idk it takes a special kind of awareness of many things to properly punish mistakes in this game. Its not just dropping a wall and walking forward with primary fire button pressed for an instawin. Specially against meta hitscan who know they can kill you with their vastly superior damage.
But thats thinking skills instead of mechanical skill that can be quantified by an in-game %.
When Sym was allegedly meta her pickrate was the same that Genji when he a ‘‘trash pick’’. She had the same weaknesses as always.
Truth is, when people mean ‘‘Sym meta!!1!’’ is literally just Sym not being a complete throw pick as a DPS hero like she is right now.

Symmetra is just pure pain.
Bold words for the Mei icon.
Don’t know why I still have a Mei icon. Just been playing Echo or Sigma lately. I miss playing Mei but there’s really no use for her especially when Reinhardt isn’t around much. As for Symmetra, I just don’t like playing her.
Oh definitely, sad too that the devs let bs like this happen. Like that Sym nerf was one of the fastest responses to something they have every done despite the fact that she was already dropping in pickrate.
These are the same devs that let Genji run rampant for like a month on live after already being to strong on the ptr. You know “because we need to wait to see” and “they are just a popular pick so a near 100% pickrate is ok”.

Because a QoL fix accidentally increased her beam damage by 40%. She was ludicrously busted for a week due to a mistake. It was game-breaking (at least in low tier play) and had to be fixed.
Which 80% of the ladder refuse to play because switching is someone else’s job.

It could have been a 80% buff and couldnt have made her broken, much less on Pharah/Junkrat/Reaper plagued low tiers.
Me, switching instantly to Sombra the moment I see a DF/Ball:
Doom may be easier to counter than most heroes, but his skill floor is definitely not zero lmao
As much as I loathe that character, I’d never insult him like that. Same goes for Ball.

If Sym was that easy, she’d be all over the t500 boards, since people like climbing with the path of least resistance.

I think it’s less that she’s easy and more that nobody wants her in their games.

Sym and doom are so easy to counter
Tracer is a nightmare
Yeah, but its not because of some bizarre moral reason related to ‘‘skill justice’’ or ‘‘fun’’ like some people claim, its because she sucks horribly outside 2 maps.
