Well, it does. For someone that is wealthy, $20 isn’t anything. If they see the skin in the store, and they like it, they will buy it. “Most” people, maybe don’t have that kind of wealth. But, certainly wealth plays a factor.
And you speak of, “we’re talking $20 here,” like it’s not a lot to you. For some people, it is a WHOLE lot.
And quite honestly, I don’t think “most” people do find it to be a ridiculous price. Pretty much every f2p shooter has skins of similar prices, which means, they are selling.
Imagine caring about how strangers spend their money, also do you really think people who spend their own money how they want care about other’s opinions?
I thought I seen a bundle of skins x4 for 4200coin in store yesterday? Maybe I misread, didn’t pay much attention to pricing. Will probably buy when I get home.
Yeah, its just another luxury item like video games themselves. I dont think its worth any judgement; unless they’re somehow destroying their life over it.
Of all the takes I’ve ever witnessed about cosmetics and monetization models across many games this by far has to be the weirdest one I’ve seen.
People by cosmetics specifically to show them to others. I cannot get in the headspace where someone would want to go out of their way to buy a skin and then get “embarrassed” for using it. Just doesn’t make sense to me.
SO WHAT? Oh nooooo!!! A subscription!! Everyone panic!! Why in the world would I want a physical copy of a game that requires 1000’s of other people in my region to be playing for me to play?? And why would I want a physical copy of software that NEEDS regular updating and will eventually be outdated and useless?? You’re acting like Overwatch is a home and someone is forcing you to lease instead of buy. It’s a GAME.
And Disney, what? Disney characters have ALWAYS been a product, what, did you think they were real?? You think the goal of Disney hasn’t always been to make money??
All you’re doing is fear-mongering. You are “predicting” as if your prediction is already settled fact, which it is not (sorry Joe Rogan), that Blizzard’s “plan” is to offer a free-to-play model for now, but has a secret plan to switch to a full subscription only game, is that right?
But what you aren’t willing to admit is that the game IS, in fact, FREE to PLAY, and that the digital cosmetic content for sale is all 100% optional, which, by the way, millions of people have absolutely no problem whatsoever passing up on.
Furthermore, Blizzard, a company with over 9,000 people on payroll and that run enormously expensive servers to provide their games, DOES, indeed have overhead to cover, and like EVERY business on earth, strives to make profit. Meanwhile, you get to play their game for FREE for endless hours, all day, every day with NO subscription required.
Framerates are good, future is bright, and of COURSE they need a source of revenue, what planet are you on?? You people act like it’s a crime to “sell” anything. When you goto a restaurant, do you chew out the waitress when you see that the food isn’t free???
And guess what, lots of people LOVE subscription models, I know I do, ESPECIALLY when it comes to digital content… Why, because technology advances fast by the year, and “owning” anything is purposeless because it will be outdated very quickly. Subscriptions mean your content stays updated and the cost is almost always very affordable.
NEWS FLASH: All digital content is temporary.
Your head is filled with conspiracy theories and your logic is flawed. And no, I’m not fooled by flashy visuals, I highly doubt I’ll ever buy skins, but if people enjoy them, it doesn’t mean they are “fooled”. Just because not everyone buys into your “Blizzard is secretly the devil” nonsense, doesn’t mean everyone is “fooled”.
How? Many skins were only available for limited amounts of time, I got several of them by farming a lot during those times, I see no way you would get them ALL just by farming.
I guess I played an awful lot. Even when it was anniversary and the loot pool was bigger I don’t recall ever having rotten luck with drops.
If it came to a day or two without getting them via boxes I could always use the coins from duplicates/boxes, but very rarely ever had to - to the point that I even went into OW2 with over 150000 legacy coins.
