That is literally the story of my life. I’ve been trying to reach Diamond for months and always right before I went there, once just 2 sr away I would go on a losing streak then right back up. Fortunately now I’ve been Diamond almost all season so either I improved or the matchmaker decided to stop messing with me

If it makes you feel better the game does not really change until you get about 150-200 SR into a league. I have theories as to why this is true for both plat, diamond, and masters, but that is mostly speculation.

you would’ve improved, match maker does not care what your rank is, all it does is make as close to balanced games as it can, and then give or take SR based on wither you were expected to win and how you performed if you are below diamond.
Its simple. 150 SR difference between players is small. 500SR difference is big.
+5% bonus to your wage feels as nothing
+20% bonus feels as bonus
Being 3002 sr doesnt make you magically better than 2950 sr
i reached master in season 19 , dropped all away down to high plat and reached master agian in this season. so , nothing impossible (Except for the grind).

Not quite what I mean. I mean when you hit Diamond it feels exactly the same as Plat. Now I do not know if this line moved, but I can pinpoint the exact SR where the games changed and it was 3200; in plat it was 2800-2850 and in gold its 2200-2250 and of course in Masters its about 3700-3800. Its not a small shift either; its VERY drastic and each time I hit the breakpoint I noticed it instantly and suddenly had to almost relearn my own movement and positioning and what you could and could not get away with.

I’m not even sure master rank is even masters anymore nor less Top500.
its honestly GM players that don’t want to play meta. They aren’t throwing, they’re too good at their heroes for diamond and their heroes aren’t good enough for GM so its a constant loop
what does this even mean
I mean I try to see it that way but it’s not just the losing streak, I’m talking about teams that OP describes. You know the ones where tanks instalock hammond and D.Va and then go on arguing about who should swap or you have Ashe and McCree as dps and for some reason you have to swap to Ana to take out the pharah. It wasn’t just the losses but more like the quality of my teammates fell drastically once I passed the 2950 sr mark. But at least I’ve been diamond for awhile now, hopefully I wont go back to plat anytime soon
