I basically agree with everything that Potatoad said. I guess what I’ll add is that to me Hog is the most selfish tank. Everything he does is for himself not his team and feels a bit unearned to me. I’m quite good on Hog, but it just makes me feel cheap. I just feel like I need to take a shower after playing him and don’t enjoy that. He’s easy mode.

The ease at which she is countered is the only reason I didn’t play her in comp for several seasons in ow2. I thought I hated solo tanking as well but I honestly got used to it and enjoyed season 9. But I only enjoyed season 9 because dva’s counters being weak meant I was seeing 3 counters less often. Facing 1-3 hard counters every game is just lame even when you can play around them.

Illari dropping her sun-duece? Grasp it away and laugh maniacally.

Absolutely. I’ve kinda moved away from Sig since except for those maps because I felt pushed into playing him so much back in OW1, but back in season two when everyone else was running Orisa to counter the Hogs running around, I had great fun using flick barriers to negate both hooks and javelins.

Have you ever thought that as much as you dont want to play Dva against Zarya, hitscan dps doesnt want to play against Dva either?
Defensive matrix is very oppressive, and so easy to use to deny others just as, if not more, Zarya denying Dva. A lot of time i had to switch from hitscan to Sym just to be able to play the game.
Speaking for myself here: I’ve only played Mauga about half a dozen times, and it’s because no-one else on my team can (or will) do anything about Pharmercy. It is actually really fun using LMB to ignite a squishy and then to capitalise with RMB, imo!
The trouble is, and this is where it gets boring, is that the enemy tank does not like me doing this (jerk) and then gets up in my face in some way. Then I have to dump both barrels into him or his barrier all the time and it’s really not enjoyable aiming at center mass and waiting for something to happen. Bonus points if he decides to go Mauga himself.

Its also fun to save your ult for when Hog tries to hook you off the map. He turns to walk away, you pop the flux, he just looks up at you like a deer in headlights. Same with Rein charges or Doom punches.
Those “Call an ambulance, but not for me” moments are always thrilling.

It’s rough if you’re not having fun. I feed a lot when Im playing Dva and my damage is typically the lowest in the lobby, but i enjoy her kit and gameplay loop the most in any matchup.

Honestly I think Tank will always be a painful role to play for as long as there is just one Tank in a team. So much responsibility falls to a single player while the DPS and Supports can share the workload a bit, and help each other out.

As a main Dva, I know that feeling. Even with that, I accept the rule about counterswap (and love this)
For me, you have to do like this :
-Accept the challenge. If they swap, it means you carry the game (or fear you)
-If you are a main Dva (and don’t want to change for any reason, if not OTP), just focus on their support/DPS ennemy and fall back to protect your mate. Just do your game, but don’t forget your mate, especially when you need heal.
-Sometimes, you don’t have any choice to switch to avoid defeat/toxicity. Because, if the Zarya is really good, you can’t do nothing. Of course, we have skill issues, but sometimes, switch is the best solution even if you don’t like this
Of course, you can stack with your friends but if you’re soloqueue, it’s better to sometimes open your eyes and think about this

Venture doesn’t have so much CC. LW save your life (if he doesn’t troll, which is rare), Illari too doesn’t have CC. But Cass grenade will be reworked for grenade OW1 version

Low key, I think part of the issue here is tank main’s need to be flexible and adaptable. Imo, too many players either stick to “their main” for too long or don’t play enough tank heroes to be able respond properly to different situations as they arise.
That being said, its way harder than it should be to play tank in this game. It seems like a bloody marathon of patches and adjustments since S9 too. How are tank mains supposed to improve when their role/hero keeps changing every other week? The armor change was terribly uneven for how it affected all the tanks as well. Like wtf.
Its like tanks are trying to eat on a boat but Blizz keeps rocking the dang ship. Steady as she goes Blizz, ffs! We can’t feast like this!

that’s true. So many complain on this forum (and maybe reddit), complains about counterswap. But the problem for them (small community IMO) :
-In OW 1, they play only one tank (maybe too), and are so much dependant about the second one. In OW2, you’re alone and if their opponent destroy you, you have to adapt and so much OTP players doesn’t want to switch
-Tanks are (70% in that case), stubborn, thinking they are big boss to kill everyone. But they complain about others for not carry the tank, or dying so fast… But 70% problem is the tank because they are too far to heal, don’t protect them…
Switch to 5V5 doesn’t resolve all issues, but at least, you know if you’re a real tank or not, and how to play (at your level) tank.
And that’s why we have so much cyring baby / boomer main tank on this forum

Blizz is not absolved of their responsibility in this dilemma. I remember Hog being awful for so long cause he was an off-tank Ow1, and wasnt tuned properly to be the solo tank. Doom wasnt even a tank back then! But he can be a solo tank?!? 
The structure/balance/counterplay for tanks is just a mess. Blizz is still trying to figure this out 11 seasons into OW2. That says a lot. A lot lot.
