The last thing Overwatch needs is more one-shot kills.
a interesting idea, a hero that goes after one specific target, but becomes ultra squishy after taking out that target almost to the point that the target you take out is also a suicide button.
a novel idea that is also self balancing. +1

neat
They made is so Sombra can’t use any abilities till she announces to the world she’s coming out of stealth because they didn’t want Sombra to be able to melt people out of stealth (also to make sure Zenyatta is the only person she can kill).
Don’t forget turning speed on pc and turning speed on console are quite different. A hero that requires 180 flicks to fight against simply won’t work with people who play with low sensitivity.
Doesn’t matter how short or long of a startup this one-shot ability is. It’ll always be either too long for someone, or too short for someone else, when taking rank and aim speed into account. OP in low ranks, useless at high ranks. It’s much the same issue Bastion has, and he is largely considered to be a fundamentally flawed hero.
Being dead from a surprise 1 shot is unfun from any perspective apart from the 1 shotter.
Horrific idea.
I never played spy in TF2 but I can only imagine how much broken such hero would be in OW.
Spy also does not have invis forever (barring one set up that makes you much less effective) and has to fool people with a costume (he looks like a teammate). But can be bumped into and shot. So any teammate can spy check and fight the spy. Some classes (namely the Pyro) also hard counter the spy (if a teammate ignites after a quick spray of fire he is a spy). even going invisible does not save him because there is still fire running around. Also the spy needs to uncloak completely for the free backstab.
Basically it is well thought out and he really has to work for the insta kill and again, never from cloak.
And I really don’t trust Blizz to put that much though into it.
I can guarantee the Blizz one would feel cheap, where frequently when a spy gets me in TF2 I think, “well done, you sneaky jerk”
I remember that.
That was right before Doomfist’s release.
Yeah, hilarious in hindsight and also infuriating as well, it was just after neutering Hog and then “here is a new free one shot hero :O”
After neutering Hog with the reason given that he oneshots too much.
And then they release a hero whose number one selling point was ‘This guy can oneshot’. Spectacular.
Though they noticeably often do that: They clip something from one hero and then put it onto the next hero to be released.
Between hero, that can charge and kill you without any hiding, and hero, that has to sneak on you from behind to kill you instantly, I would choose second.
Spies aren’t that big of a nuisance in TF2 either. First of all, you have Pyro, that turns both invisibility and disguise useless. Second, Spy has rather low health and not very strong gun, making fighting head-on a bad option in most situations.
Saying that as Medic player: unless you are too distracted, enemy Spy is free food for your Ubersaw.
yea, not saying one shots are okay, the only one shots i accept is a tracer or sombra clip. BUT Domfist’s punch, hanzo storm arrows, ashes broken stupid bomb, are all one shot abilities for any squishy in the game.
…No.
“if blizzard made an effort”
Aaaaaand here’s the problem. They won’t.
I want a true Rogue/Assassin character as well (Sombra is a thief-type) just not with one-shot capacity. In fact, if they copied WoW’s rogue and its resource system (energy and combo points) I’d be pretty darn excited; they would build up not only ult charge but “finisher” charges that expend that second resource and scale with how many points you’ve gained from combat.
And then get killed by superior fire power.
So you want a skill-less aim-less one shot where you ‘outsmart’ them to death?
I don’t see how this would ever work, especially if you can’t come up with a general idea yourself.
You used a tf2 character as a reference but we’ve already got an invisible hero in the game so that space is already filled.
Honestly, if you brush up on your aim a little and go for easy targets, sombra is already a really good hero to do this.
If you’re not willing to learn to aim in a fps… there’s not much that can be done for you.
If you praise aim for one shot kills, you already have Widowmaker.
Genji had it in his concept but they removed it for being broken.
While its good in TF2, think about backstabbing and one shotting a 600HP Hog/Hammy or even an 1000HP ulting Winston is just too OP.
