I think we need a map editor

I would like to address this topic quickly and respectfully, and I think we need a map editor included in the game. I have seen the enormous creativity that the community has shown in the workshop; however, if we give it one more push and something more to create their own maps, there would be greater interest from people when it comes to doing something in this area. Imagine the thousands of possibilities.

1. The map editor could take advantage of many of the resources that have been seen before in the game, such as NPCs and enemies, which we have already seen in either PvE missions or in previous events. I think it would be a good opportunity to let players make use of these assets and allow them to experiment with them.

2. Also, one thing to mention is that the editor should be available on all platforms and not be a separate program, but rather a section within the workshop tab. Another thing to add would be that it should have the assets from previous maps, you know, structures, models, textures, effects, things that have already been made for the official maps of the game, and I believe that this would give the workshop creators a better motivation to create those interesting game modes. It’s a great game.

Conclusion
This is an idea that I have had for a while, however, I didn’t know how to present it. Honestly, I hope this publication reaches the eyes of the developers and at least they consider the idea of introducing this into the game. No matter how long it takes, I would love to see what things this great community can create. Without further ado, I say goodbye; have a great day.

brother we need basic functions to work before we need a map editor. We don’t even have the option to turn perks on and off from a hero to hero standpoint. I can’t disable specific perks, modify them, or anything.

Besides lack of basic functions, the workshop is littered with bugs and broken features. Things work unpredictably or not at all left and right.

We can’t ask for these out of pocket massive features right now. All we can do is beg for a crumb of development.

I’ve tried to request a basic function: Allow to query navmesh to use with dummy bots. I did a prototype how they can implement since Overwatch 1. They just don’t care for workshop.

Main reason:

They don’t want the people think blizz devs are incompetent, because there more fun gamemodes with workshop than core gamemodes.

Also workshop was the tool that prevented overwatch 1 close the server forever.

tbf even this is asking way too much compared to what we get lmao. All I want is perk settings in the hero settings so i can disable and enable hero to hero…

I’m surprised with Spligate 2 released in 2025 and already have map editor with advanced map editing. Does not have advanced scripting like Halo Forge has but still a thing. Overwatch don’t have nothing.

The fact that we still don’t shocks me! They showed off an in-game map editor during the Twitch streams of the creation of the Talantis map back in Season 4, and we still haven’t seen even a hint of that map or the map editor returning since. They could almost certainly make adjustments to the system then make it a feature available to players.

there is a lot we need first for custom games before this can even be a conceived thought.
