People are still posting about Mercy’s rework over a year and a half later…
Maybe they wanted to try and break the stereotype that an all-American GI-Joe can’t be gay.
I thought somebody with as many forum posts as you would’ve actually understood, given the number of threads there were like this. But obviously not. Also you are comparing apples to oranges. Being a certain way and showing it off is not the same as wearing certain things and showing it off.
I remember Yogscast Sjin observing that the Stunt Rider 76 and particularly his Daredevil skin looked like something out of a gay pride rally - and he wondered aloud then whether Soldier was actually gay. If you look at some of his other more recent skins, particularly Grillmaster 76, those short shorts seem like something consistent with him being gay. Suffice it to say, I don’t think this reveal was a huge surprise to anybody who cared to pay attention - I just wonder why they chose now to reveal it and not, say, 18 months ago.
Sure, they can say what they want. But if they genuinely believe that sexuality is a mere personality trait then that would disqualify them as being an SJW.
By that same logic, saying “No vegans eat meat” is a “No True Scotsman” fallacy, when really, by how vegans define themselves, they don’t.
All that aside, if you read elsewhere in your thread, we have established that the OP has, in fact, manipulated evidence to push his point, when really the “evidence” doesn’t support it in anyway, so that particular reply of mine to him isn’t relevant anymore anyway.
People here doesnt understand what calm discussion is
I agree with you
Sexual orientation is a personality trait…
Yes, I’ve seen countless baseless arguements that people insist are absolutely true for no real reason what so ever. I also know that no matter what I say you’re going to retain your view, despite the fact that you have no real reason to believe it other than the fact that they do.
Other than the fact that one is something innate to you and one is something you acquire and can change on a whim, they’re the same. They are both outward appearance with no bearing on anything more personal than that.
Yes, some queer people like to flaunt their sexuality. However, there is no reason to then tag the word “personality” on to that as well. If you want to, then I’d expect you to defend your decision to do that, because it doesn’t naturally fit there.
my only gripe about 76 being gay is that it is forced. The only reason to do this is to cause controversy and as a distraction from the numerous problems this game has. Instead of focusing on things either this game needs or the community wants (clan support. better balancing, fix MMR issues, real solo queue, map creation, map selection, new maps…etc) … they decide to have an existing hero have some sort of controversy. AND they did it with this very intention, knowing it would cause issues in the community. THAT is my issue with it. I dont care if any hero is gay, atheist, satanic, poly… i only care about their abilities.
Apparent SJW here. I can confirm I would never say “lesbian personality”
Going to level with you, I haven’t read through this. Find me something pertaining to sexuality and I’ll gladly accept that I’m wrong.

You didn’t expect people to get upset about you stereotyping people?
I agree that soldier doesn’t “seem gay”, but that has no bearing on what he is.
Not all gay people are flamboyant. Some are “completely normal” or seem “straight” if you will
I would like to add that I am not upset by your post. I am, however, surprised that you are surprised that people would get upset about this.
Personally I would have rather them made a new hero and have them be gay, but I honestly don’t really care in the end.
Or just look up the definition in the dictionary if you don’t know what “personality” and “trait” mean.
Soldier was ruined the day Orisa entered the game. Brigette also drove home his futility.
Him being gay at least buffs him up to F tier alongside Torb, Sym ect.
Would I rather them make a new character who was gay? Sure. I am not one to call for the changing of an already established character however…
Do I think soldier being gay is unjustified and does not fit him?
Nope. It was already established a few years back with the photo and the fact that people can be who they are without huge cliches. I often get shocked reactions when I tell people that I am autistic. “Wow, really? You seem normal to me”
Is Mccree or any of the other characters listed straight or gay or bi?
N/A. We do not know for certain besides some interactions and us putting ourselves into their personalities as a reflection of ourselves. That could be why so many were upset about soldier. They felt like soldier was an extension of themselves, a representation of who they are. I can see why people would be upset about soldier having a trait they cannot relate too. However looking at it rationally without personal bias, soldier can be and is gay, especially since it was established beforehand.
I would imagine most people don’t care that he is gay, they just are annoyed at the way its been done.
Pretty sure this subject died out after everyone got their displease out of their system.
Cute back peddle. Sorry, sir/ma’am. You’ve just lost all validity and this discussion has now come to a close.
Refusing to acknowledge evidence which has plainly and conveniently been provided for you is exactly the same as admitting that you’ve got no argument and you’re just talking to talk.
You make a good point.
You lost the debate when you copy/pasted a big list without a real argument.
Nice try kid.
