I still cant believe they took down the beta

It’s because they got forced into it so OWL could play on 5v5 as it was originally planned for 2022 release. Issue is the company set itself on fire in 2021 and everything they were making got delayed. So the Beta was a method of allowing the players to feel like it was legitiamate to have OWL playing a game they don’t have completely public access to. But now it’s alienated people who really enjoyed it when it was removed.

So if you want access, you’ll have to become an eSports player.

OW1 is so trash compared to the beta.

Yeah,

i’m having fun on my mains before they got fully smooth brained with the release of Overwatch 1.1

This is the natural course of most closed betas… they will release it temporarily for information gathering, close it, do more behind the scenes and then finally do one more public beta before release.

The problem is more like how terrible those remix events actually are.

I prefer OW1 over OW2 but I can hardly make myself even play.

What do you mean by that?
Don’t you enjoy playing a recycled event that gives everyone that missed them all those skins that were meant for the loyal fans while adding nothing but some measly recolors (but HA HA HA they are not all white… they are grey/black ish this week!) to the game?
What’s next? You claiming that you do not enjoy starvation, physical and/or psychological pain?
Ridiculous.

I totally agree with this.
I have very little enthusiasm to play more than the weekly 9 wins lootboxs ATM.
No confirmation about what’s happening to our stacks of gold currency isn’t helping too. Mindset is very much now if I play the minimum and don’t get the remix skins by the end of the event, just use some of that stack of gold that may not cross over to OW2. Hopefully the gold will cross over, otherwise there going to upset long time players.

You really need an answer? To get people back to OW1 to support queue times…

To get players back to OW1 to help with queue times…the answer is kinda obvious…

and did that work?

Dont think so (For example, the top Ow streamers are playing other games rn like apex)

Yes, queue times for OW1 raised during the beta by a significant amount.

What do streamers have to do with queue times, they follow the views as it’s their livelihood…

Honestly I tried to play only a little of the beta. The problem I ran into having played a fair amount of the beta of OW1 was that I wasn’t as gung ho for the game when it released, but after a couple months I finally got into it.

I would rather not get spoiled or hung up on it too much then be in a bad spot when it did get released.

I think some players are too demanding in this area these days. Be thankful we got to play Beta at all. I suspect it may hit again at some point with updates, then back away till release.

But I’m not stressed or worried about it to be honest.

My only grief with OW1 is the lack of any good matches anymore. Especially in QP modes. They are 90+% of the time stomps… One way or another, and stomps aren’t fun. Winning or losing.

Maybe they took it down to make us realize how much better OW2 is.

I’ve already realized that. I’m yearning for more OW2 after going back to OW1

I played my first real game of OW1 today since the beta was taken down…

Please, bring it back.

Well, I’m not bothered by the Beta being taken down :man_shrugging:

It was basically the same game, minus the key game design and mechanics from OW1… and despite the beta providing a fresh feeling to the game at first, it wore out pretty fast (I got bored with the Beta after a couple of days tbh and I didn’t even play that much).

The new hero, the couple of new maps and the only new game mode weren’t enough in terms of content to me. It felt like “crumb content”.

What I still can’t believe, as far I’m concerned, is that what we have experienced on the Beta is pretty much 70-80% of what we will get after the 2.0 update is released.

Who in their right mind could think this will be as successful as OW1 and make people that left come back, let alone build a new playerbase with this…

Scary…

Making people watch content creators for drops was a smack to the face

The PVP 2.0 Beta not having any events or Arcade modes felt also very empty, in addition to being a downgrade to OW1…

I think Overwatch clearly needs non-stop events each month to feel fresh and attractive, even after the “OW2” update. I think that’s an issue both OW1 and the Beta have in common and would explain why some players are bored in one or both versions of the game.

I still have more fun on OW1 nonetheless because the mechanics make more sense.

I thought you like those comps  and I do agree with your point.

It’s all about building hype. Give you a new toy and take it away so you want it more.

I will forever be fascinated by people that have literally zero clue on how betas function, or their purpose. The beta isn’t going away forever.

They’re allowed to take it down so they can tinker with all the data they’ve collected. The beta is for feedback and improvement, not just a fun toy. People sure do like to forget that.

After all, you guys… do realize that we’re having multiple beta tests, right?

They have one test. They look at all the data and feedback from that test, and use it for the next test. So on, so forth. The schedule goes remix - beta - remix - beta - remix, and maybe another beta after the third remix.

“The beta is for OWL!” “Only pros got in!” - both are literally false. This beta is being done the same way that other betas are typically done. I don’t know what’s so hard to understand about this.

We were pretty much told that there were going to be more beta tests. How everyone let that slip through their memory is beyond me.

It’s a beta. It’s for testing. They want to test reworks, Sojourn and the new map in a 5v5 setting, and see how it plays out and how the general playerbase find it. There’s no point in any of this, especially if progression doesn’t carry over.

Seriously, it’s astounding to see the amount of people who think that the beta is:

  1. A finished product/indicative of the final version of OW2
  2. Just for fun gameplay

Have any of you people ever participated in a beta before? What’s going on is very standard procedure. It’s supposed to be bare-bones. You’re only playing it to test the features that the devs want feedback on.

There’s no point in events due to 0 progression, and they don’t want to test arcade modes right now. Only reason we got QPC was due to queue times. I wanted workshop, but I understand why it isn’t there. They don’t want feedback on it.
