Since they would be forced to refund every smurf account they will NEVER ban those. Why you ask? Because there was nowhere stated that you are not allowed to have more than one OW-Account and if they change it after 2 years and after millions of smurfs were bought they would be forced to refund every smurf… why should they care about you crybaby if the other option is losing tens of millions of $? Are you people 10 years old or how come no one understands it and keep whining about smurfs?
If smurfs throw games on purpose to stay in bronze for example (to rock for epeen) then yes, they should be banned but since Blizzard has no replays or data about what happened in games, its unlickely they will ban throwers/trolls because there is no evidence avaible to act upon and they thought its easier to implement a stupid automated bansystem and we have seen how “good” it works (omegalul). Thats why they ban streamers only because there is actual evidence, their stream. Thrower/trolls are free to throw/troll but if you as a streamer get angry at them then YOU are the one to get banned… and people actually think that dogs*hit is fair omegalul. OW dead anyway.
Why do people even have multiple accounts? I’m legitimately curious as to why you would even do that, if not to play out of your skill level?
And if you want to say “My main is X skill level, but I want to play Y character!” that’s not an excuse. This game isn’t about mains. It’s about switching characters. If you’re not as good as your skill level says, maybe your skill level should be adjusted.
You’re right about the difference in skill, however there is also the issue of what is more convenient. You have to buy a new account, spend 8 -10 hours leveling it to 25 before you can enter comp. By that time, system has already picked up on your MMR and will try to place you at most 2 ranks below what you are if you are diamond+. While if you have an alt account you can just let it decay.
Difference between low diamond/ high plat and masters/ gm is significant.
When someone is being ironic and insulting the rank of his teammates with words of the like ‘looool this elo is bad’ or ‘you are just a plat’ I assure you this person is from a different one simply because no one speaks low of the rank he truly belongs as if his skill is superior. Only those who Smurf do that.
Your case has nothing to do with what I am saying.
There’s just as many smurfs in qp as there is on competitive. Just 2 days ago I had a whole enemy team smurfing and multiple times have had 3+ people on both sides smurfing. The matchmaker also likes to put multiple smurfs into the same match for whatever reason.
So you want me to be good at every character in the game? Also, I made another account as I was never allowed to play a different role from my main when I played comp. People saw I had a ton of hours on tanks and so that was it. I was throwing if I tried to play any other role. I am plat on that account. I made a second one to start over playing more roles. I play all 3 roles on that one, still with a focus on tanking, but flexing more as well. It placed even higher so it is the one I more use now. Having another account let me see that I was just as good, even better, at flexing then just playing tank all the time.
So the reason given from many smurfs is; "I’m a GM “hero” but a Plat “everything else”. That sounds like the premise of the game as stated by Jeff Kaplan, switching to counter, is flawed.
Should you be required to play more than one hero at a given SR to be considered that rank? Should you have to play at least one hero in every category at that level to be considered as that rank? What’s the solution to that problem?
I just wish they would use player level as the first factor in match making. I dont want to be paired with new accounts either. Who knows if they are good players tilting or truly starting out on the game. THe problem’s been here for a year and I dont feel very motivated to try when there are fresh accounts in the mix. Because there are just too many draw-backs and ultimately it just feels like a waste of time trying to play good.
World of Warcraft was nice, because player level was there and it was a bigger guarantee the individual knew the game mechanics at that level.
So, you really didn’t need a second account at all. You could have just done that on one account. Must have sucked to realize you wasted money to find out you could play other characters.
smurfs also segway into stream sniping without consequences, which led to one of OW’s biggest streamers to quit the game (and have his career expand rapidly because of it), and the rapid decline of the total viewership of OW on Twitch because of another streamer venting anger at a stream sniper.
First off, didn’t waste any money, I play on console. The account was free.
Second, let me post something I said earlier.
People wouldn’t let me play another role, as the would report me for throwing, since I had less hours on them. The second account let me spend more time on other roles and now I can get into a game and people see I play multiple roles and can flex, instead of assuming I can only play tank. It has been very helpful and beneficial for me
