She still kills genji pretty fast if you know you can aim :3
We all occasionally die to a baby dva of all things. Even enemy widows.
But I feel like her primary is finally on a good spot, threathening and deadly in the right hands and it makes reins fear you. If you charge up from dva’s mech, you should not have problems killing the baby that comes after and if she’s still a problem, just turret autoaim.
I personally prefer the new beam but the appeal about old Symmetra was that she was handicap friendly.
That’s one of the few situations spamming M2 and adding a melee would be worth tbh. Mechless D.Va doesn’t have any sort of escape or sustain so any form of damage done to her HP pool until she gets ult back is very significant.
It was so unique and it was healthy for the game to be so approachable to all players. Sym was so fun to destroy and let that somewhat satisfying beam noise.
Why don’t you just play single player games then you can have the game exactly as you want it without ruining it for other people, or do you expect the other players to be your own personal ai

I see comments like this all the time, that Sym’s lock on was removed because it was OP. However, her whole rework was motivated by the fact that her pickrate was buried under the gutter. Next to nobody played Sym seriously, and the people who tried got report bombed. She was that weak. If her gun was really that OP, then she wouldn’t have been in anywhere near the trouble she was.
The reason they changed the lock-on was because they wanted to buff her gun’s range and damage, and knew that keeping the lock on aspect would cause a riot.
Symmetra’s new gun is objectively better than how it used to be. You just don’t want to learn how to aim. Sorry to be that guy, but Symmetra now requires people who play her to actually aim. That’s simply how it is, you will have to deal with that fact.
They could have somewhat satisfied the strangely vocal group that hated it - mostly Genji mains and a few tankers… by giving it the same targeting box as Moira’s alt-fire, which is about double the width of a test-range dummy, along with the old sound and graphic look. The problem here partially is range; it was probably deemed too defensive at 5m, and the decision to go to the beam (12m) makes more sense from an offense perspective. It really needs to be 15m to match Zaryas, 12m is just not quite enough on a kit already struggling as it is for ramp up, keeping it hobbled at 12m doesn’t make much sense.
That’s kind of what I was thinking. You still have to aim but it’s easier and it gives u the animation
I could see that style of animation+soft lock being extended to maybe 8-10m… but that’s it. She would have to have a damage bump to compensate and some folks would lose their minds if it happened.
I said some. Not the full or entire reason. Her lock-on was part of the problem in her kit; whether it was used out of laziness to aim, or it barely helped her at all during a fight.
Just because you miss it doesn’t mean we do.
Make Symmetra actually take skill. Deal with it.
If you are on solo duty against a D.va (eg, you two are the last remaining from both teams), my advice is that as soon as your break the mech, throw a turret at the mech feet. When D.va is leaving her mech, her screen goes black for a brief moment, and don’t let she see that you placed a turret down. By the time she notices a turret is hitting her, you can easily finish the job.
Another hint against thin targets (Mercy, Tracer, Widow, Lúcio, Genji, etc) is that you should not go for the center of the body, but aim at the legs. While AD dancing, the legs hitbox is larger than the body hitbox, and it’s not like Sym’s beam care about doing headshots.

Maybe if you didn’t have the lock on as a crutch you would be able to kill the easiest to kill character in the game.

In order of loss sentiment, the things I miss more about Sym2 is: Piercing orbs, Shield Generator, 6 turrets on stash, Photon Barrier, autolock beam, old Teleporter.
No lie, aiming is really hard. I practiced for 2.5 years in this game and I still can’t do it at all. Mercy and Winston are boring as hell. I want to just be able to DO something and not be useless, but practice has gotten me nowhere. I miss the lock on mechanic.
Moira OP, dont make me laugh. Her orbs get eaten by D.Va, she also has to choose between orbs, her ‘autolock’ does 0 damage and if a MOIRA is winning duels against my DPS I’m telling someone to switch. Her ult is the worst support ult in the game dont @ me. Current Sym is way better than Moira.
