I know how to fix queue times

That’s precisely why his answer of “queue with another healer” isn’t really the solution either.

Because OWL was losing audience for the stagnant goats meta.

Ladder suffering long queue times was just a calculated sacrifice for their real business.

That wasn’t the only reason, everyone knew that on normal ladder you went from having 5dps + solo healer or tank into goats at high sr, no one was taking on the roles people should have and that was killing the game.

I didnt mind solo healing when Mercy had 60hps.

It was clearly the primary one, given how it was enabled into OWL weeks before the beta season even arrived on PTR.

That is a myth. Most of the matches I played pre role queue, and even nowadays in QPC, are either 222 or 132.

People started a Mandela effect upon this in the same way nowadays people believe mass rez optimal usage was hide and rez instead of tempo rez.

If you think that’s how matches actually went I don’t know what to tell you because they clearly were 5dps most of the time, you can continue to play QPC if you think you don’t have 5dps in almost every match. Which brings me to ask why are you here in this thread if apparently it works for you?

We have Jeff in an interview directly stating 132 and 222 were the most popular formations by far, even during the peak of goats.

I have a private YouTube channel that I use as an archive for every single competitive match I ever played up until season 12, when they deleted Symmetra and made me no longer care about playing comp. Feel free to double check my numbers and tell me I counted them wrong.

Even then, there is the possibility that you are an unlucky fella and fell into the exception clause, and actually experienced plenty of 5 DPS matches. But it’s more probable that the few DPS heavy teams you joined lingered longer in your mind, even while you played more equally distributed comps.

(Or you do stupid things like counting Hog, Moira and Sym 2.0 as DPS, but let’s be optimistic)

A single player’s statistic isn’t actual evidence.

As I stated most games were 5 dps everyone can remember that. Otherwise they would never have added 222, because if people actually played 222 then they wouldn’t even have to insert 222 into the game.

If it only happened at high sr they could have introduced the role lock only at high sr but that’s not what they did showcasing that it happened in all ranks.

Do you know what the Mandela effect is?

True. It’s data, not evidence.

What it is evidence for is about my personal experience with the game. And that was played between gold and plat, two of the most populated ranks. Multidps comps were not common enough to be worthy all the drawbacks of implementing role queue.

Nah I think the most obvious solution here is that we need another DPS hero - and since a few people still try to play tank, it should be a tank buster …

1-4-1 and then dramatically buff the tanks and supports is the only answer

No you can’t but its very clear that the times are reflective of relative proportions and numbers. The more people you have and closer to a 2-2-2 distribution, the faster the queue times. They are not indiscernible.

QP classic is there for you to enjoy

Or you could have 2-2-2 be quick play and make the old version be something in arcade…

go play cs go then if you only want that

Actually it doesn’t. I’ve queued as tank and with tanks when someone was DPS. Queues were at least 10 minutes

I mean… I liked it to as long as the enemy team didn’t coordinate to figure out, “Kill the healer and we win.”

So it was usually awesome for 1 round. :man_shrugging:

This is where it gets tricky though. How would you adjust Zenyatta and Lucio to keep up as the only healer while keeping their ults?

Pretty much all scenarios point to the problem being a limited hero selection becoming even more limited.

Take Lucio and Zenyatta, either they can’t and fall into obscurity, or they would and become must picks putting others into obscurity.

Hey Nibelung, do you have the source? I know he said it somewhere but I couldn’t find it.

This is amazing, thanks for this.

I remember it was an interview with Seagull on Twitch. IIRC, during stage 2 of OWL 2019. It was a month or two before the official announcement of role queue.

Unfortunately I didn’t saved the link. Sorry.
