I just went to the Valorant forums

So we’re laughing that every F2P game has the same issues because every F2P game is a scam? I don’t really get it.

You do realize that PALADINS does not have this issue…

They also have hero bans… So they can ban an oppressive hero…And noone can play them. They also dont have leaver penalty,

so, one game rewards good players, while the other rewards bad players. That’s what I’m reading in every post of this thread.

Both reward different skill subtypes specifically.

Valorant rewards mechanical skill and strategic understanding.

Overwatch rewards synergy, not understanding and ability management.

Both rely on loadouts/kits, map understanding, strategic play, and mechanical prowess, but each specializes in specific aspects of each.

It really comes down to playstyle preference.

But both reward good players.

One of the reasons why OW smurfs are much more impactful is that OW has supports imo, who can heal as much as damage. Many smurfs in OW are duoing with a pocket mercy.

No smurfs are perfect. They take damage. In OW, this is nothing. Your instantly getting healed by a pocket mercy. When a smurf alone could kill 2 guys in a combat, he could kill the entire team when pocketed.

Supports in OW are amplifiers. They heavily intensify skill diff.

in my understanding its the same complaints in almost all fps games with “skill based match making” and which are team based.

iirc, was it cod? where some big streamers were upset when SBMM was introduced as they couldnt “stomp noobs” freely anymore. it was quite funny.

6 v 6 was way better balance wise, since we have a check and balance for every role.
We have folks who already play ow1 for years on end, and ow2 as well, they know exactly how it feels to play the previous version, already been there, experienced it, what’s wrong with “looking back”?
People’s memory and feeling don’t just disappeared within a year.
OW1 MM was better because we don’t have this ridiculous win 5 to reveal rank system, making it more torturous for each loss. We also don’t have people who straight up get boost to Master/GM after their first placement.

Admittedly, OW1 was not perfect, no game is really. I just preferred the better one.

Little different in valorant, the biggest complaint I heard is that all the guns one shot, its like if soldier 76 and widowmaker had a kid, that would be valorant

Most of the gun one shot is the main reason why csgo and valorant have the most competitive esport scene over the rest of fps genre.

They have casuals from League and OW switching over to this kind of genre and demanding things to be more easy.

Im sure if your good you like it, but i personally hate valorant because im garbage

console game selection is repulsive.
but app crashes are rare. hacks rare.

Back in the day you weren’t finding gold/silver players in your diamond games and when it did it was really rare or someone was duoing to boost a friend. that happens with a frightening regularity in ow2 with solo players. legit have had people in comms in several seasons freaking out because they’re playing in a lobby way too high for their rank.

Good point. I think sustain is one of the reason why smurfs in Overwatch feel more oppressive. In Valorant, all it takes is 1 lucky headshot or chip damage (if the smurf is low HP) to take down the smurf. And once the smurf is dead for the round, that round becomes easily winnable.

But even if smurfs exist in Valorant, smurfs of similar skill level tend to be present on both teams in my experience in Valorant competitive mode. Rarely do I encounter a situation where the smurf is present only on one side of the team and not the other. Their smurf detection system much like their anti-cheat are very aggressive.

There’s even a smurf queue in Valorant. If you’re an iron player playing like an ascendant, your rank will stay the same but you’ll start getting matched with and against ascendant players while being iron rank yourself.

People on this forum don’t know what they’re talking about when they try to prove me wrong while not playing the game themselves, it really shows.

Rather than smurfing, Valorant’s main issue for me is teammates griefing. Because unlike Overwatch, teammates griefing can actually stop you from playing the game. Since they can body block you, use utility to damage you, follow you around and make sound for the enemy to spot you, even type in all chat to tell the enemies where you are etc.

Contradict yourself much?

So because you don’t like me praising one game over another (even though I was praising OW’s balance direction), you decided to pick and choose single sentences that I’ve said out of context to try and “win” an argument. Congrats!

I love Overwatch and I play this game more than Valorant because it’s fun. But sometimes, these Overwatch defenders come across cringey to me.

Who’s winning? I’m just pointing out a contradiction in your statement.

But go on…

I mean at the same time, valorant also requires u to get level 20 which doesn’t sound like a lot but it takes a very very long time until u get level 20 to unlock comp.

  1. I said that smurfs are rare in Valorant, indeed.
  2. I also said that even if there are smurfs, there’s almost always one on both side of the team.
  3. Out of 100 games I’ve played, I’ve only encountered smurfs only being present on one side of the team once.
  4. Even in such cases, the game can still be winnable due to how easily smurfs can die in Valorant (as explained above).
  5. Most smurfs also quickly get put in their own smurf lobby/smurf queue where they will get matched with and against higher ranked players as soon as they start performing well consistently (again, as explained above).

Anyways, I’m done playing this mental gymnastics with you. If you want to waste your time with this nonesense, you’re free to do so with somebody else. Take care <3

when u get to like gold and plat/ diamond, that’s where the real Smurf’s are. it sucks to play against a higher ranked Smurf like in those ranks because you just can’t peek or you get 1 tapped. so you can’t take them on in a fight, or you can’t outplay them with abilities because they are like 3 ranks above you.

Even if you get stomped by the enemy, you only lose like -4 RR anyways. I’m sure you know that if you play Valorant. So losing and getting stomped doesn’t even matter much in ranked. If you get unlucky matches, you barely lose any RR.

In Overwatch, a loss just counts as a loss regardless of the match being fair or not. This can be overcome by playing hundreds of games, however. You just have to grind a lot more in Overwatch to get to the rank where you belong.

What I don’t like about smurfs in Overwatch is that there’s very little ways of outplaying them. Because the sustain is much higher so they can afford to make more mistakes.
