"I just want to have fun"

Personally i dont care about win or loose i just want legit fun matches.

Now what i mean is 90% of the time the game feels either you stomp teams or the oposite its been such a long time when i had games that it was truly equal and have this stress or anticipation of a game.

i mean at the end of the day you cant win all matches 24/7

I’m sorry, what? You think bad players shouldn’t be allowed to play even QP? What???

But that’s the thing, you’re part of a team. There are plenty of rooms with widow hs modes, etc. No need to drag people into your mess.

PS: I’m not merely saying playing a sniper, I’m saying the kind of player that can’t get a shot in without playing respawn sim.

Here’s a hot take, if someone says “they just want to have fun” maybe they mean it…  :upside_down_face:

I know on the off occasion I try Widowmaker, duelling another Widow or Hanzo is quite thrilling as the gameplay is so different than the other heroes.
I suck at it of course but sniper duels are so different than usual gameplay.

…but of course I doubt I’m really feeling that right? :upside_down_face:

Just say they are selfish, cuz they are.

They have SO MANY single player games to goof around in and yet they deliberately choose a game where they will affect the enjoyment of others negatively to enjoy themselves in.

Widow HS modes are not fun. I don’t want to play a game of widow vs widow vs widow vs widow. I want to snipe in overwatch.

This game, despite the attempts of the dev team was never a competitive shooter.

A real competitive team based shooter would have never allowed solo’s or even non fully pre-made teams. This game is casual, even in its most competitive modes.

Because it came up I am always curious what people want out of players who aren’t switching / underperforming:

The best outcome is they switch and perform better and possibly they have a bad game.

Or they switch and becasue they are having a bad game they just perform worse and are just as unhelpful.

The people that say that just go to QP to play something stupid because “it’s just QP - the mode where nothing matters cause there’s no imaginary internet ranks”, and, more often than not, they’re on their smurfs. They’ll be playing Widow into two shields or Winston/Genji countering them 24/7 and won’t switch, even when asked to cause they’re not helping anything, and they’ll just say they’re “having fun”. Respawning all the time is “fun” to you? Or they’ll just start walking off the map, standing in front of enemy team spamming “hello” or sit AFK at the enemy spawn. And that’s not to mention how you’re making the game not fun for five other players. All because winning isn’t fun, I guess.

This is just an excuse from the people who actively throw games or don’t even try to adapt to enemy picks.

Its the very definition of a competitive game… um okay? I mean you comment literally makes no sense bro.

It’s deeper than that, because group 2 should not be in a competitive game in the first place because they don’t care. That’s the point. The reality is there are three groups:

  1. Those who only have fun winning

  2. Those who have fun but play competitively and accept through competitive sportsmanship winning, losing, or a draw

  3. Those who do not care if they win, lose or draw - the “idc, I’m having fun” set

Its like getting into a F1 race with a golf cart, and laughing and waving saying how fun it is to be part of the race… the reality is, you are nothing but an unpleasant distraction and obstacle to everyone else actually enjoying the event for what it’s intended to be. When asked why everyone had to suffer for your idiocy, it’s the “I just want to have fun” response

Groups 1 and 2 don’t do that; group 3 are tourists.

So many players defending toxicity and trolling in this topic that I honestly feel mentally nauseated reading these replies full of nothing but straw men, complete disconnection and completely random what-if’s…

Besides the pure rhetoric, what exactly has been said that is in your opinion incorrect?

Besides exact quotes (which I’m definitely not gonna do since I’m obviously done with this topic as it’s not fruitful in any kind of way anymore) basically ignoring the whole issue: where players intentionally and completely willfully decide to not care about anything resembling any kind of proper gameplay and just continue to troll/feed for the entirety of the game from start to finish while being fully aware that they’re heavily sandbagging not just their own gameplay but the entire team’s performance; by trying to lump every criticism under the massive umbrella of “tryharding” or “hero favoritism” or some other vague disconnected argument nobody is trying to defend in a lousy attempt to defend said toxicity and trolling, because of some random personal motive

Well, tbh, I think you said it better than anyone else.

I think a lot of players here play Overwatch like a single player shooter, disregarding the fact that they have 5 other teammates with ambitions and feelings that depend on their participation.

Yeah well sadly since I’ve been playing since release I’ve had to deal with these types of players a lot so there has been a lot of time to reflect upon these types of players relative to all the dozens of other types of players. I just wished players were on a completely another level of sincerity and flexibility when it came to topics like this since it’s especially sad to lump these troll players together with other players who aren’t necessarily good with the off-meta heroes who they’re playing but are actually doing so with thoughtful gameplay in mind. Because I’ve had so many happy moments thinking “wow this player was a really great teamplayer and played such an important part in our team” only to find out that they’re some platinum player playing a hero they have 15 hours in the game with against a masters stack on their mains, but managed to do so well because they had such a great approach to the gameplay itself. It makes you feel so good to regain a bit of hope for the players’ attitude in the game

Not sure that’s 100% true, but I like the sound of it :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I’ve noticed that when people say ‘I just want to have fun/ it’s just a game’, what they really mean is ‘I just want to play the videogame without getting verbally abused.’

(I’m talking about people who are trying new heroes/roles/just having bad game etc. People who actively troll and throw games can take a flying leap.)
