I don’t need to convince you of anything. Your skill is reflected in your SR and your won/loss rate and that’s all you need to know about how MMR works. Improve yourself and you’ll climb. Learn to adapt and you’ll climb.
how convenient
it’s impossible not to
Human variance, especially when you consider that you play with 5 other humans vs 6 other humans, and you play with and against a different set of humans every game.
It’s literally a part of every single multiplayer game in existence, so you’re not escaping that unless you want to swear off multiplayer games.
I talk about humans and hidden MMR, and you choose to focus on when I said humans
The human part, namely you, is all that matters in your climb. Improve yourself and you’ll climb, nothing else matters.
so you’re saying a 700sr spread is acceptable, and then adding insult to injury by not showing how it was calculated is not to be heeded? k
Yep. People around you got better while you were on the forums asking for pointless features you don’t need to climb. Now you just get carried randomly, one way or the other, because you don’t try to improve yourself.
Here is the thread I think you’re looking for. All about my personal climb through the SR ladder
this thread is about how such a wide spread of an SR could be more forgivable if the MMR formula was published.
There’s nothing to forgive. It’s entirely explainable by the fact that you actively refuse to improve yourself.
If you want to climb you don’t need Blizzard’s proprietary information, you don’t need to spam your countless nonsense troll posts, you just need to get good.
whether you’re trying to improve or not has no bearing on if you know how the MMR formula works. please focus
wrong thread
I made a separate thread specifically for this topic. Would you please be so kind as to direct the appropriate comments there?
That’s true. You don’t need to know Blizzard’s proprietary information in order to climb, you just need to improve yourself.
- These are public discussion forums, I’ll post where I please.
- This thread is about why you can’t maintain a consistent SR or consistently climb. The answer is that you refuse to improve yourself in any way. You even admit in the title that you haven’t changed your play style, but you seem confused that you can’t consistently climb.
You don’t need to know Blizzard’s proprietary information to climb, you just need to improve yourself. /thread
glad we’re able to see eye to eye
derailing is against the code of conduct
in spite of consistent playstyle
incorrect
wrong thread, this thread is about a variance in SR without a variance in playstyle
I fully understand why I can’t climb, please stop derailing the thread. the thread is about volatile SR with uniform playstyle.
again, this post isn’t about me climbing, it’s about a wide SR range that is attributed to a narrow playstyle.
this is outside of the scope of this discussion
You don’t get to decide the scope of what’s discussed in your spam thread. You simply create a starting point - or in your case, the exact same starting point several hundred times.
Even if your style is consistent, you actively refuse to do things to improve yourself - like learn maps, learn health pack locations, or move your mouse an inch to the left or right to look behind you. Everyone else got better while you made literally 6800 posts on the forums demanding pointless features that won’t help you.
If you want to climb, improve yourself. It’s the only way.
I absolutely do. What you’re doing is called derailing a thread. That’s against the Code of Conduct.
I don’t know how you got from the starting point to calling out my bad Overwatch playing.
not true, please stick to the topic
not so fast there, even if they don’t help me, it will make the game more enjoyable.
I mean, if you really wanna go all out, remove enemy health bars
Jeff said they’re reducing map rotation in the upcoming seasons, so my complaints were heard.
whether or not I want to climb was not stated in the original post. If you inferred it, that’s on you.
This thread is wild, you dont need to see what Blizzard has under the hood. The point is to figire out what hero works best for YOU. That requires you to play and climb.
which would be facilitated if the MMR formula were to be made public, now come on, you can’t argue with that, now can you?
but without detailed feedback some of my play goes for naught. I’d have a better understanding of the match and where I fit in, if all MMR numbers were revealed.
a 60/40 game and a 40/60 MUST be looked at differently. and the 50/50 games must be given the utmost attention. If you don’t agree with me fine, but I’ve heard nothing interesting to the contrary.
Because that is literally the reason you can get up and down swings to that degree. You can have a “consistent” playstyle, but humans by nature are not consistent. Now involve 11 other humans in your game.
“The MMR formula” is 100% irrelevant to why humans are inconsistent, which is why I felt no need to address that.
I’m sorry to say but I have no idea what you are talking about with these ratios, I just heal people and climb dude. It seems like you are too fixated on numbers and behind the scene stuff when you need to focus on improving your gameplay.
You can have all the info in the world, doesn’t mean much when you don’t put the work in.
Look dude I get it, climbing is hard but if I can climb from Silver to diamond/master on PS4 and Xbox you can do it too, you just gotta look at yourself and how to improve.
but if I had the PBSR number as well, that might tell me something about myself
half the battle takes place in the locker room
gimme the numbers, and then we’ll talk about my work. I am here providing feedback to Blizzard. My trials and tribulations through the ladder have nothing to do with the topic of this post. But I can see why some might misunderstand the post’s intention.
I’ve created a separate thread specifically for this topic. All about my personal climb through the SR ladder If you’d like to talk about my skillz in Overwatch please do it over there. Thank you.
Oh, guess we have to wait for a dev to comment on this one guys.
Look this is the last thing I’ll say to you about this, what other game gives you all the numbers?
Do you ask you DM what the next encounter will be in D&D?
Do you ask COD devs to explain their matchmaking practices?
The point is by having that info you are making playing the game redundant because you are supposed to play based on how heroes and winning with them make you feel then the game builds matches around that, you can’t get the MMR info then use that to get better MMR, that isnt how it works.
