Thing is they’ll need to actually do noticeable nerfs that matter or it will be worthless.

Worthwhile changes in the case would be taking hog’s hp down to 650 or 600 if they want to keep hook the way it is. Otherwise it would need to be damage nerfs to all listed.
I don’t know what their balance philosophy is in general right now. They acted like there should be less damage overall in the game when they nerfed Dva and Zarya only to buff tracer and sojourn’s base damage right after.

It’s good they’re being proactive for a change but what kind of changes actually work to make the game better right now? People don’t like to be one shot so work on that. If the one shot exists, there should be a trade off in power or risk.

Why do I have to try so hard to get a kill as Dva, fly in while keeping tracking good, risk using all cooldowns in one go, risk not protecting teammates, risk getting stunned and feeding, risk not getting the kill at all, while a hero like roadhog takes not effort and no risk to get that same kill.
Same with doomfist. His buffs make securing kills very simple and easy and while he’s risking more than roadhog, the effort isn’t much higher than hook.

I think what we’ve seen is it’s better to have a dps in the tank slot than an actual tank. Roadhog is just a fat dps as we know. Doom is literally a dps made tank, compounded by the buffs.

Protection is nearly worthless as a tank now. Reinhardt is the prime example. The team doesn’t bother standing behind him, why should they? He uses his shield for personal means and wants to get close to get kills. Why risk having the shield break and be vulnerable? Just pick a hero that can get in and get kills. Now find the hero that can get in and get kills the easiest.

Hot take but the other tanks should’ve been brought up to roadhog and doom’s power.

My guess is tanks will slowly become nerfed until their killing potential is made minimal and eventually no one will want to queue for tank once again.
They wanted them to all be closer to brawlers but in the end it comes down to who can secure kills the quickest and easiest.

I just hope this doesn’t plant a seed in the devs minds that tanks should only be good and defending their team and not getting kills.
