I f;ing Hate This Game

If that were true, playing support wouldn’t be torturous

i find it so much better than 6v6

agree on this one

not true for me but i do try my best in every game im playing

not true in my experience

im having a blast playing kiriko zen and ana rn. i used to main tank but now support is my main role.

But steps destroying or overpowering Supports is not a healthy way to fix queue times, nor will it work. DPS players will stay on DPS and now complain about the imbalanced supports. This fixes nothing. The only thing they can do is add more balanced Support heroes like Kiriko and hope new supports attract new people to the role. Any inorganic sweeping power injections will be catastrophic and not help anything.

Why should anyone care about making Supports more valuable than DPS, as long as compositions don’t become too durable.

What specific gameplay mechanic (s) would make that a problem?

Because tbh, I’m pretty tired of the braindead “This design is bad, because it’s a synonym for bad design” type arguments. As if they actually mean anything.

half of the things you said sound more subjective than objective. the other half are things that also happened in OW1.

yeah, yeah… OW1 didn’t have these problems, did it?

They’re already more valuable than DPS. What more do you want? They’re just less desirable. And upping their power won’t make them more desirable until they’re ludicrously broken and everyone hates them. Supports just being better DPS is inherently bad.

What the Hell are you even talking about?

To make them more desirable by buffing them.

The innevitable argument of you saying they can’t buff Supports because that would be unbalanced/overpowered/gamebreaking/etc.

Then I ask you for examples of specific mechanics that would be a problem because of Support buffs, and you can’t name any that aren’t “Because historically excessive durability comp is bad”. Then I point out how that’s easy to balance around in 5v5.

And you cycle back to spamming unbalanced/overpowered/gamebreaking/etc, without ever referencing the actual justification for your statements.

It’s just kinda predictable after encountering this argumention style hundreds of times.

Buffing Supports in ways that make them less support doesn’t make them any more desirable to non-support players unless you break a threshold where Supports are better DPS. It’s straightforward and easy to understand and yet you refuse to see it. Support is not the most popular role in any game and it never will be. Nor does it have to be.

…I am genuinely curious as to why people aren’t simply doing this if they’re genuinely unhappy…?

I sure wouldn’t. I prefer the game as it is currently than the rotting corpse that was post 2019 OW1.

You’re 100% right about these

the rest though is different story

Everyday I hate it more and more which is a surprise to me considering how much I used to love this game.

You don’t play Paladins, do you? Having health regen put some pressure off off supports. It’s a win win.

Trust me, you are going to see a LOT of that in coming months. Be prepared for OW2 to have a smaller population than OW1 in 6 months top.

Try open queue. I hate OW2 too, but Open queue is almost like OW1 with long lasting fights and all that stuff that made OW so good. I just hate this new OW2 steamroll, 5v5 could work with 1 DPS, not 1 Tank.

Like if Open queue wasnt there, I wouldnt be probly playing OW2 at all. I dont even like playing solo tank because its just not what it was in OW1. There wa salways this new friendship in every match between Monkey and DVA or Orisa and Sigma, now its just lonelyness… It feels like big DPS.

I’m pretty sure they can buff Supports in other ways besides just raw firepower that are also fun.

For example, that +15% movement speed would be a lot of Fun, without increasing their firepower.

Also I really doubt it would be a 0% more Suports then instantly 100% more once you buff enough.

I still hate what they did to tanking, literally every game is rock paper scissors. And now that Ana is in every match again, unless you have a Kiriko, more than half the tanks are unplayable.

I think it’s far better than shield watch.

Counter picking shouldn’t be a thing. It’s bad game design if you’re forced to swap to another hero to counter someone on the other team. If this was how it should be then people would swap to another hero every time they died to counter something on the other team.

Also people enjoy playing a set play style hero. If you’re forced to swap to something you don’t enjoy just to counter then you’re not having fun. Now the players on the other team are forced to do the same. Now no one is enjoying. Why should we even play the game at this point?

Nothing new here. Balance won’t ever get better. Blizzard is known to be the worse company at balance for any type of game.

I just had an awesome match in quick play. It was a push game, the robot only went all the way to their side once, and it was a slog the entire way. Near the end we finally fell, then they pushed the cart 3/4 of the way, had a slogfest under the bridge for a while. We finally overcame them and pushed it maybe halfway back to the midpoint and we were out of time. It felt so much better than the typical, wipe trading. My enemies were being smart and taking cover when I hit them and almost killed them, my team played similarly. It was like I wasn’t in clown world for a few brief minutes, glorious.

Doesn’t work, everything else is trash garbage and you just circle back around to this. It’s the only game that counts with a decent player base and some reasonably fast paced action.
