Now I’m not really disagreeing, but like. I very much didn’t get streaks like this in ow1. Sure maybe once in awhile I would, but straight up every time I play now its either flat win or lose streaks.
They aren’t fun and they seem to be pretty abundant from how much people complain about it here (and from my experience).
So I can’t really blame people for assuming rigging is happening, when their experiences are essentially pointing to that. You can’t lie to them into forgetting how they didn’t get streaks like this so often in ow1. The folks who go on about patents are off their rocker, but assuming there’s some funny business going on when you can’t get out of these streaks makes sense to me.
Ive always chalked it up to what happens when a game goes F2P. You get a lot of people who arent invested or incredibly new maybe not to just OW, but fps in general. In OW1 there was an investment made up front, that gatekept some of these people out, especially children.
That is no longer the case.
If dps isn’t peeling and a support has to swap as a result, then the other support gets victimized. If every match results in Kiriko and Moira because the rest of the team isn’t doing their job, that’s not adapting. That’s poor teamwork.
And I don’t mean when one flanker is just superior than the defender dps trying to peel. I mean if I am on Ana and getting dived and my dps is right there NOT bothering to peel. Adaptation is not the answer because it doesn’t stop the problem. Better teammates is.
It’s probably that and a mix of 5v5 balance or whatever. I used to think it was the matchmaker being badly made/not having enough players but Idk if it’s even that, 5v5 is just insanely stompy.
I assume they don’t, over and over. They get 10W one day, then WLWWLLLWWLWL, then 10L like two weeks later. What do they remember? 10W and 10L. One point of evidence for that is that so many different people come up with different patterns. Some say it’s always WWWLLL, others say it’s obviously always WLWLWL, some say it’s 10 streaks, one guy I remember said it’s always WWWLLWLLL or some stupid thing like that. Was hilarious.
5v5 is definitely more stompy, you used to have 2 major frontlines. Now you have 1. So basically you kill the tank, its very likely you can sweep the enemy team if your tank is still alive.
@fraudulence-1299 So in your situation, you are healing as ana, getting dove so you arent able to heal, you dont switch to like… anything that can help sustain yourself to heal your team, you just keep dying to dive and your contributions suffer because you refuse to make a change because your team wont? Help me out here. Because it sounds exactly what im talking about.
Yea the whole “game is making me lose” thing is copium.
In QP you can get some bad matchmaking, it happens, as a QP “only” player though it doesn’t happen with any degree of regularity. Definitely not pattern like like rigged claimants would have you believe.
It’d be nearly impossible to accurately predict which team will win or lose without knowing individual stats on their likely hero picks, what synergy if any those likely picks have, map/position (attack or defend) synergy for those picks, player fatigue or warmed up level, and whether or not someone might break the rules if they start losing or just decide to and you’d need to know all of that to accurately rig matches.
You can have a competent player decide to throw themselves off the map because they didn’t like someone’s ult, the game can’t predict that. You can have a rage quit backfilled by someone who is a better fit, or worse fit for the team/map. The game cannot predict that.
The game isn’t rigging matches, sometimes it does dumb stuff I agree, but it isn’t malicious or targeted.
And the fact that they TRULY believe the game is rigged against them, but absolutely refuse to stop playing it. That right there just proves they’re phishing for things to complain about to avoid blaming themself for their most obvious mistakes.
This exactly. The amount of effort it would take to make an accurate mm to account for all of these things would be absolutely insane. And honestly would be the most complex matchmaker we have seen in any game.
People have been complaining about this in every game ever with public matchmaking. Patterns are weird and you’re just as likely to flip a coin and get heads 10 times.
Also… You’re going to get frustrated if you hyper focus on how your teammates are playing. But there’s no reason at all to do that. Just focus on your own play and what you can do to impact the match and improve on.
People are just wired differently. 90% of my time the past 3 years has been on support, so when I see a DPS die stupidly, I don’t recognize it as dumb because I don’t know what it takes to perform well on DPS. Same for tank. And when another Lucio main does something potentially dumb, my mind goes to “oof, been there” and empathy rather than flaming them.
all games can be very dynamic in the most average ranks or where most of the playerbase is. remember there are a prevalent amount of hackers and smurfs nowadays with free to play. also new accounts always get placed in the metal ranks whether a smurf or actual new player… dont know the percentage of either hehe
so yea that makes for some wacky matchmaking… OH YEAH… and the tank playerbase is shrinking so the matchmaker trying to find equally balance tanks n the 5v5 setting is near impossible which also makes all the games wack since that role has so much impact
after all this tho i still think in competitive you usually end up where you belong in a certain amount of games. its just that sometimes you are unlucky and fall to all the other shennanigans going on in a lot of games (tank imbalance, hacking, new accounts whether smurf/hackers, other stuff like bots/throwers?)
I agree with botched placements. I remember climbing in season 1 of ow1 from bronze. Because my qualifying games had leavers on my team in about 7/10 of the games.
I wish that one day you stop having grand conspiracies about a team based shooter, where a billion dollar company has made a super complex algorithm for match making that targets you and some other people without touching people like me and others.
Unfortunately you lack critical thinking and dont know how to reign in unmitigated paranoia…
Lets say for argument’s sake, youre right, and the mmr is rigged.
How would the mmr determine which accounts to favor? What would differentiate one account from another in terms of getting favored? What if multiple said accounts are all in one lobby. Who gets favored then?
So on top of rigged mmr being statisticallly laughable, its also a protagonist’ fallacy. Its just the “player one” , or “your” account that is/isnt getting favored, right?
