I feel bad for lower ranks

Or let me clarify, i feel bad for people that actually understand the game while being in a low rank.

Played on an alt. Your team can literally be stomping against bots and in the next second basically give away the victory for free. Situational example: Plat match, Orissa, backed up by 2 supports and 1 dps does not understand that u can and absolutely hecking should should engage an antinaded solo contesting enemy reinhardt (yes, he was literally the only one) they back off and point flips.

Its really worrysome that this reflects the majority of the playerbase gamesense.
Cree doesnt know that he counters tracer. Rein doesnt know that he will likely die when charging into oblivion for the 473928th time. Teammates doesnt know what a shield is. People use 3 ults after a fight is over. Brig doesnt play zen/lucio and complains about Blade. Moira doesnt play Ana and complains team is out of range and goes dps in stead. Did something go wrong down the line with lazy hero designs and the types of play/thinking- (or lack there of) -that they promote? Or has it always been like this?

There’s a difference between understanding the game and being able to put what you know into practice.

If they understand the game they are not in lower ranks.

Not if they’re a dps, or other high damage dealer, main.

But when you’re Orisa at 1700, kill 3 enemies solo then your other 5 team mates run through your shield to lose a 1v5 vs enemy Reaper, isn’t a lot you can do…

Although I did have the game sense to start maining other heroes and climb to gold with 80% win rate…

Not always true. Read the post right above yours.

There are plenty of people in the low ranks that understand the game fundamentally, in ways that the OP explained in their post.

What often kills games is tilt. People just keep queuing into the dark abyss regardless of their morale. That tilt follows them into their future games. You can tell by the sheer amount of people that say ā€œYo, I just had a horrible game last match so let’s make this one betterā€ during the first round setup. People don’t move on.

And believe it or not, it’s difficult for most people to process even the obvious when they’re blinded by their frustration. They grow stubborn, and the game becomes them vs their team vs the enemy.

I’ve seen it in teammates I’ve been in multiple lobbies with. I’ve seen it in streamers. I’ve seen it in friends. I’ve seen it in myself.

Tilt is what truly prevents climbing. It fabricates a sense of either ā€œMy team sucks, and I’m doing fineā€ or ā€œI’m doing poorly, but my team is worseā€, and those ideologies prevent the ability to both self-reflect and improve.

And yet, outside of games, outward looking in, I’ve seen people who understand the game fundamentally. You can understand the game (enough to survive) in the low ranks. The difference between a low-tier player and a high-tier player being able to put that understanding into play in the midst of a match.

i felt that. tbh i think most ppl in lower ranks dont fully understand how to get value out of certain hero’s abilities/ults and dont understand how to position and coordinate. thats my biggest issue rn being a support main. I have issues with feeding. I had someone tell me after i told them to stop feeding ā€œi have to stop the push!ā€ (the enemy team was pushing the payload, all of them were on the pt) and when i told him that every time hes gone out there, hes gone out there alone without the team and i cant heal him, if we want to stop the push we have to go in together and attack as a team or else we’re never going to stop it, and for some reason that was mindblowing to him because he sat there silently and just said ā€œā€¦yeah, ur rightā€ like ??? our orisa was doing that too, poor tanky little orisa with her giant horse bod slamming on top of the payload trying to 1 v 6 the other team. NEEDLESS TO SAY, WE GROUPED UP AND ACTUALLY WON BECAUSE THE ENEMY TEAM KEPT FEEDING AT THE SAME CHOKE OUR TEAM FED. It’s frustrating watching your team drop like flies 1 by 1 because they believe theyre the only ones doing something and its the team thats not helping them when all they need to do is just WAIT a few sec for the rest of the team and push.

Tbh these are very solo-queue problems, which is why unless you have friends you can queue with, you’re not going to climb in comp. I know how to play the game at least DECENTLY, I was almost at Diamond on PS4 but I made the switch to PC and the amount of throwing, cheating, and flat out refusal to cooperate is insane. Like, I thought solo-queue was bad on PS4, but PC takes the cake by far.

My placements alone were awful.
Had leavers on my team in three of the games, had a thrower in another one, had lovely 4 dps teams that did nothing against 2-2-2 teams and then complained about losing when our team was composed Hanzo, Widow, Sombra, McCree–and that has been pretty much every game in comp for me since, except now McCree is typically a Reaper. I started going into LFG and that has helped a bit, but tbh others, much like myself, are entering LFG because they haven’t been able to get anything done solo-queuing and sometimes they are already tilted, joining voice like ā€œI’m on a losing streak and I’m ------- tired and I want to win already, this sucksā€“ā€ and bringing the whole team down.
If you complain you’re told to git-gud bc Kabaji climbed to Masters solo as if anybody with a job and college courses is gonna be able to devote Kabaji time to playing. Comp just isn’t fun for lower ranks, and watching streamers in masters n up just makes me bitter.

Exactly what this guy said, solo que in this game is a nightmare. Ive played other competitive fps games in actual tournaments, but yet cant get out of plat solo que.

We can only blame the community aswell, 2 seasons ago i went on a 40 game lose streak over 2 weeks. I averaged a 40 elim-4 death ratio and 15k damage every match, 2-4 golds every single time. Got so bad i sent prolly 10 vods to my friend who is a GM coach and indeed it was not myself but my team losing in about 7 of 10 games.

In a game thats 6v6 extremely team dependant with huge counters. Only so much u can do

Truer words have never been spoken.

I mean bronze arnt good, they can’t even beat hard bots

I am in agreement as I am experiencing these. I am a flex tank main solo que, and these experiences has been my meal everytime I que in competitive.

I am not saying that I should be on higher ranks or myself is good at the game, as I see that being in low rank means I can correct all that bad habits that I do as a player, also practice my shot calling to call right decisions, not overcrowding mic but clear, so when I do get to big boy SRs, I do not throw accidentally that much.

As a player, I do not like to blame my teammates for their performance, as it might cause them to throw (most of the time), I tend to give praises if they do cooperate (when I call focus target vc). But it’s really training my patience and tanking my anger, eventhough I called Moira to cover behind my shield but my Moira keep shouting (in chat) to team to get together, but at the same time she press shift straight through my barrier into 1v3, press E + right click, and hold right button then dies, then she blames team DPS for being bad at the game, and she changes to DPS from main healing role. Then I press P, oh! that tells.

About hero designs, I myself have no idea what the dev have in mind to make life better for player like me in low ranks, or have they ever make any directions for players on how to actually play the game ever? All they ever said (or at least what I get) is for us player to go creative with team comp, and players can do whatever they like. And so there goes people with those minds, there goes 5dps 1healer, 1tank 4dps 1healer. A strange compositions like Winston, Hammond, McCree, Ashe, Lucio, Zenyatta (example). I mean I don’t think people in low ranks even care or understand what dev meant.

But I am glad that they are reconsidering some unconfirmed plans like role que-ing (been waiting for them to bring this up). Not sure if it will impact the game to get better, but these updates and news from dev teams have always been secretive and slow. I wanna be patient, but at the same time I am losing it, though I am still trying my best in competitive.

Something about this is not right

If u care about them, why u dont coach some low ranks players?Troll topic

Not true, there can be other reasons.

I played pro, but I’m in low ranks now, because I can no longer hold a mouse properly.

I understand the game, but I can’t play it anymore.

It sucks.

It has always been the case since the beginning. In solo queue you already struggle with getting 6 random strangers to form a reasonable comp. And a lot of time they thought as long as the comp is 2-2-2 it will work, and disregard any resemblance of hero synergies. Imagine someone pick Moira for a dive comp, what is she gonna do when Winston and Dva jump to the other side of the map? Or widow on top of her perk needs a bit top up? And if the enemy runs nano blade while our team support decides to choose 2 main healers instead of Zen/Lucio, it s almost a lost fight from get go.

There is hardly any trust between people you first meet, so the team is very susceptible to tilting, blame game. Hell, I m still silently blaming my friends for committing ults into a lost fight or feeding the enemy for no good reason. Or playing too passive and not giving chase to stagger the enemy.

There is, however, one thing that you can help your team if you have superior game sense: communicate with them, be nice, and don’t expect a 100 percent compliance. It may not work all the time, but it does win you games that would otherwise be a lost. You can warn the team an ult is coming ( grav/earth shatter/blade), you can warn Lucio/Zen that Sombra is about to EMP, so they can separate themselves from the team. You can tell them what is about to happen, and what they should do when ults hit the fan.

I have some friends in masters and GM (I’m high gold) who reviewed my VODs and told me ā€œWe’re surprised you’re not high plat-diamond yet, you have big game sense to be gold playerā€.
According to them, I’m just being unlucky, I can’t just synergize with my team, but I have the ability to do so. When they review my vods they also look at the environment, and always point at suicidal reinhardts, frontline anas, 1% accuracy mccrees, what Szabo put on his post. Of course sometimes I’m not a perfect player, I usually make typical gold mistakes that are also common in higher ranks (like use DM too early and don’t eat nades and gravs, or can’t block earthshatter. Fine, I’m working on that). ā€œYou understand the game perfectly, you have potential to open space and start teamfights, you have diamond level shotcalls, good aim, you know what counters your team comp. Just work a little bit on positioning. You’re a great player but your teammates just don’t care. You get smurfs every single match and leaversā€.

I’ll just wait. One day I’ll get to plat. It will take ages.

Tactics are different at different ELOs. My Zen positioning has to be WAY different at different ranks.

What would get punished at higher ELOs gives you advantages at lower ones.
