I don't want to join on-going games

But for people who don’t want to be in an on-going game and are already going to play Tank/Support anyway, priority is useless.

You can bet nobody wants to do it but yet someone will have to.
Giving an option is not a solution because everyone will have it disabled and it will be the same nonsense as comp mode.

If you are filling up an ending match, that is just the stupidity of the people who thinks leaving in the last seconds benefits them somehow.

It does though for people who are trying to baby their stupid smurfs in qp on console and avoid losses…

People do this to avoid the loss to be counted- it comes up as incomplete.

So? Let people vote surrender and bye bye
The limited time people have to play each day shouldnt be wasted on stomps.
And when blizz sees that 80+% games are surrendered in ~6 minutes they will take balance and map design seriously and not around 0.01% of the player base who play a COMPLETELY different game than the rest

Are you prepared to do that a dozen or so times in a row? Because you are failing to understand just how many people leave mid session. Rage quits, disconnects, real life matters (people play quickplay in part because they don’t know when they have to leave), and etc.

Backfill is very much the lesser of two evils. Without it MORE games would be ruined. I do not want to play “vote surrender” I want to play Overwatch.

Right now backfill is what allows us all to have the majority of our games play to completion. We all equally share in the minor (yes it is minor. In my opinion it is such a silly thing to whine about) inconvenience of playing some games from the mid point.

The Dev team have already addressed this in the past. They have no plans to remove or make backfill optional.

I actually have no problem with it anymore, in fact I like it because I get priority queue for the next game so I just use those to actually queue for dps so I don’t have to wait 10mins or whatever, without those priority queues I don’t wanna wait that long to play dps so I end up just playing tank and support all the time.

exactly this, I’m happy if I get put in the end of a game on tank, and then I can queue more quickly to play dps in my next game. At first I assumed the priority would be kept to the role you queued on, but since it’s not I really like that.

Surrender at ~6-7 minutes gives a VERY clear message across to blizzard ''yo your MM sucks and WE dont WANT to play games where you match 3 good 3 abysmall players against 6 average ones and call it balanced MM"
They do EXACTLY the same in Hots and its killing the game for 2-3 years now

I and people I have talked with who play OW (15-20 at its peak) had the same idea
We would rather surrender 10 games in a row where its just unfun stomp AND then play that ONE game where teams are balanced and you dont know who will win.

In a stomp we MIGHT win in the end but its not fullfiling its depressing. YOu dont feel acomplished, you feel like enemy made a VERY stupid series of mistakes and it doesnt matter they were winning 99.5% of the game. You won NOT because you were better, you won because they were worse and stupid … because unlimited overtime exists along with cheese heroes like ball or lucio who can stall to ifinity and beyond

They have made no claim to balanced game play in Quickplay. They are fast and loose games of Overwatch. Thus the term “quickplay”.

If you are wanting more balanced games you are going to the wrong queue. The point of the game is to have QUICK games. Not quick SURRENDERS. Don’t like backfill? Then go play comp. There is no backfill there.

Yea I would, IF when a person leaves I get to leave too without ANY SR penalty.
But RN I roll several dice
Are there cheaters (read smurf)?
Are there throwers?
Are there leavers?
Are there people playing on potato net with 21 FPS (russians most likely in my region)

IF any diceroll turns out ‘‘Yes’’, my SR is F**** period

SO I go quickplay but the game decides to put lvl 50 account with 75% critical accuracy on widow against me, and we since we dont have our hitscan smurf we can just watch and waste time until the game ends. This increases toxicty with the ENTIRE team for the ENTIRE evening so leaving/surrender saves your mentality.

You dont want to surrender? Cool always click no, nobody is forcing you. But its better to surrender than just to w8 in spawn room or “playing” while watching stream on second monitor.

The irony… Literally making an excuse based on the very problem that no backfill would create.

OR we can keep backfill and you can quit like any whiner does?

Nobody would even WANT to backfill comp games cuz thats the fastest way to lose rank possible :smiley:
But forcing players with a leaver on their team to suffer through a match KNOWING they will be PUNISHED by the game - either by losing SR or geting banned for leaving AFTER SOMEONE ALREADY left is a 10/10 design

I understand perfectly what the difference is. My point is that one of your COMPLAINTS about comp is that leavers ruin it for you. Yet some how you fail to realize that LEAVERS in QUICKPLAY will ruin it for you there as well. Not exactly in the same way but just as damaging.

Spending five to ten minutes in queue, get a game, some one leaves, no backfill, back to the queue, rinse and repeat.

Backfill cost me 5 seconds of my life, oh the horror! You people should stop.

If they are smurfs they do that in comp. They just use QP to get to lvl 25.

The ones who leave the last moment in QP are usually rage quitters.

The suggestion is: how about instead of ruining people’s fun by shoving them into fail games, we make it so people don’t want to leave? I’m 1000% positive that a 30min “you won’t play the game” would make at least 90% of the leavers not leave, and backfilling wouldn’t happen once every 2-3 matches.

Edit: I just entered the game, queued, and the absolute first match I got was an ongoing match. And I left.

Not if you join on round 2 of a match and not on the last 5 seconds.

Priority Queue will not fix this problem
QP and Arcade has at least on EU around mid plat level at leas 2-6 leaver.
I can’t even remember the last time where I had a game without a leaver.

Their is “QP and Arcade should be easy to join and be fun” and there is “I can do the f I want in QP and Arcade” and guess which one is the case right now?

Frequent leavers are the covid or 2020 of the OW community

If you leave 5 games in a day, put them in a leaver queue. People in a leaver queue will get matched with other people from the leaver queue and they get it only removed if they sit through a complete game of leaver queue.

Even Heroes of the Storm has this feature. You leave one match in quick and you are marked for leaver queue and I can tell you leaver game queues are horrendous.

I’m really curious about the internal metrics.
How many games have a leaver?
How big is the average number of leaver?

If the average number is +1 then it’s a serious problem
From my experience: the number has to be +1

From my experience it’s at least 2 per match. Sometimes the entire team rotates more than once. I’m contributing to increasing this number by 1 in every match I backfill now, because when I join and I see it’s ongoing, I just leave. Doing this more than 10 times over a few days only gave me a penalty for a couple of matches, and the penalty is negligible. So right now the system encourages leavers.
