You can wait invisible for Mercy to come to rez someone, so then you can hack and kill her.

Which basically means you’re sitting there doing nothing but holding your finger over the button and hoping your reaction time is on point, because the stealth delay + the hack time (0.7+.65 = 1.35 seconds) is just slightly lower than Rez cast time (1.75 seconds.)

Sombra is not necessarily meant to be a scout; you can still tell where enemies are. The maps aren’t that big.

Now, you have full control of when to hack and when to retreat. You can wait Orisa’s shield to get weaker to hack her. You can wait invisible for Mercy to come to rez someone, so then you can hack and kill her. You can hunt Widowmaker without using the translocator (just like Tracer, but invisible) over and over. You can put a translocator on your backline and wait for Doomfist to appear and hack him.

This doesn’t really make her useful because you’re staying invisible for a long time, while everyone else is cooperating.

So there seems to be a big disconnect between the Sombra community and the devs, but these PTR changes have also showed me there’s a HUGE disconnect between the Sombra community and the general playerbase who don’t really play Sombra or fully understand the intricacies of her kit.

If you check out the rest of the post by checking on it from the quote, I’m certain it’ll answer a lot of questions you may have! It was made FOR the players as well. This isn’t a plea to the developers. I made this thread for the players.
