You say this as statement yet you have no proof of that. That is not what is happening, I played over 10 000 competitive games across all ranks from bronze-Diamond. I have several alts, I was frequenlty writing down stats and results from my games, recorded many games. I didnt experience anything you talk about. If you are climbing, system is trying to give you players around your elo. If you raise your MMR, system is trying to fill you into games at that MMR where both team have players at that MMR. The patent you linked? I have read it, it has things which are not in OW so patent is definitely not designed for OW. Some parts might be used by OW, sure. But that doesnt change anything. Climbing is possible, people are constantly climbing. Those who are willing to do something for it.
I will tell you something, There is no player who is consistently playing better than his elo and not climbing over certain amount of time. Time is essential aspect of getting better and improving/climbing.
