I called it a 3rd time!

Yeah. And you have to buy a pot to boil water. What’s your point?

Oh no, I have to own the thing to play it on? This is a crime!

What kind of question is that?

That it seems like a lot of money to spend for ONE game I probably won’t even like and that I can’t even play with friends. Thought the point was obvious.

We would’ve have received the same amount of content as most of what OW2 got was just withheld from OW1….that or they release an expansion and we pay for several more years worth of content

They don’t go freemium so that they can make MORE content…they go freemium so they can charge/make more money….the whole “more content” thing is literally just how they sell you on the idea of playing for “free”….it’s a marketing ploy (and a lie)…nothing more

but even THAT is not what theyre doing…

the whole point of f2p is that it allows for microtransactions instead…that money is then supposed to be how they fund future game development…BUT thats not what theyre doing with said funds…cause all said content they add they then ALSO charge for…

so what blizz’s f2p system is actually doing is charging you, to then charge you more…its P2PA…pay to pay again

its all part of the progressive goalpost moving that they do each year on “how much we can get away with now”…

soon they will have you pay to play for free games…and people will buy that too…cause our idiocy is what allows these systems to propagate

In a world where we are sticking with the OW1 model, those heroes never enter development because the developers have shifted to a different game that would actually generate revenue and OW enters the dead Blizzard maintenance mode that SC and Heroes and other older games are in.

People were already not willing to pay the $5-10 base cost to buy Overwatch. The only thing adding an expansion would do is split the playerbase more. The reason we know is because we have years of FPS games doing that exact thing with that exact effect. DLC just splits the playerbase up. F2P has been the ONLY model that ever been shown to be long lasting for a PvP game. Every other model has shown that the game in question has an artificial shelf life.

Once you go F2P you do need a new monetization model. People are willing to play a F2P game in a way they are not willing to spend $5 to buy a 6 year old game (or $40 to buy an expansion to a 6 year old game). You cannot sell things that boost gameplay because that kills the game which leaves you with selling cosmetics and brings us to why every F2P live service basically has the same model.

Dont you have to do the same for PC gaming?

I already have a PC.

Spend over $400 on Splatoon. A game that I’ve never played, that doesn’t even look fun, and that I can’t play with friends.

Or

Spend $15 on Overwatch. A game I love, play every day, and have friends to play it with.

Hmm…tough choice.

Also, Splatoon has an expansion pack for $30, so I guess

Was a lie.

I’m curious, how much did your PC cost? Cheapest ones tend to run at around $100-200, unless it’s an older model (like Windows 7).

Curiosity aside, I find their current path to be troublesome in the long run: say we get 3 missions for $15 consistently, 24 missions (the usual PvE number of a full campaign) would be $120. So, a full campaign (like Titanfall 2’s) would cost $120; is that really worth the price in the long run…?

A would-be single player experience for the usual $60 being double in price but similar (or less) in quality.

I can imagine it because it’s reasonable.

Jedi Survivor is 60$ for a complete game that’s far better than OW.

Oh? Does that game have no micro-transactions or monetization outside of the purchase price? Because I’m seeing the base game for $90CAD and a Deluxe edition for $110CAD.

fair, games sometimes don’t click. I suggest you really look into the indie sphere, there’s bound to be a game you’d enjoy somewhere. You’ll remember what fun actually is

well, no man’s sky is 60 bucks (often discounted to 30) and so far each and every dlc (which are actually really big) have been 100% free

I have it free on game pass, downloaded it some time ago, just haven’t gotten around to playing it. I have plenty of games, but never in the mood to jump into anything new.

Plus I actually, genuinely enjoy OW. It’s mindless fun. No story to follow. No quests to complete or keep track of. No secrets to unlock. No stealth. No new mechanics to learn. No exploring. When I’m tired from work and errands and life, I just want to play a game I’m familiar with that doesn’t demand a lot of my brain power.

Elden Ring just released in 2022 with full content. Harry Potter just this year.

Shills gonna shill i guess.

Yeah, and I 100% the game in under 100 hours. Nothing left to do in it. I can’t go back to it every single day. Can’t play it with my friends. It’s a one and done. We’re not talking about single player campaign games, we’re talking about multiplayer games you can come back and play daily, weekly etc for years.

usually single player games are you beat them and thats it. or repeat and try to get 100 percent done. some people play the same game numerous times. i usually fall in that category

i think i bet the mass effect campaign 100 times. every game 1-3. i can play cyberpunk 2077 over and over again although it is starting to get a little boring but i love that game so much lol. played the old baldurs gate series numerous times. once in a while when i buy a new single player game im like… hmm maybe i should go complete mass effect again or play skyrim for 1000th time. im wierd like that

The assumption that blizzard only gave us 3 missions for $15 because of diablo is outrageous.

Street Fighter 6 gives you a full game for a box price in 2023. Remnant 2 gives you a full game at box price.

Actually you know ill just save time. Youre wrong, im right and i wont waist my time on this any longer. Its almost like if i had evidence to what i say that is correct, not like i called 3 times on things.

There are no Microtransactions in Jedi Survivor.

And do you think the story mission would be any different? It got no replayabilty value. It will only take you less than 90 minutes to complete…and $15. LMAO.
