Can we just for once stop defending the smurfing part?
What if people don’t give a damn about ranking up but want to have a 6v6 match where both team is equal and not beat the smurf?
I feel funny that you thought to create a topic about it. What was the cause?
Thats the part i find funny is when i can get 4 kills as bap or as a dps and still see my team lose i have every right to complain when and why we lost
There’s a difference in skill level every 200 sr though low gm is not the same as 4.5k, there’s a reason people went haywire when sleepy threw to masters, on paper its only one rank but the skill difference is huge.
Masters have way better mechanics than diamond, diamond have way better positioning and game sense than gold plat, bronze silver are mostly people learning the game and often having limited hardware, most plat smurfing would be having a gaming setup, i know friends who play casually in bronze using trackpad in a laptop, there’s a reason there are people in different ranks, there’s a reason people plateau at 2900sr, 3900srs, the numbers may be small the difference is vast.

idk… people will just complain about nearly anything if it hinders them, slows them down or ruins their fun/game play. The problem is most people think others are smurfs when they really aren’t and are just playing well and then there’s just blatant smurfs who lower their ranks on purpose to cream people and yeah those people need to be called out cause throwing games to get a lower rank is bullcrap and not right. If you place a alternate account, a unranked to GM or what ever go ahead that’s you just doing you… buying another account and still trying your best but if you blatantly are throwing to derank and smurf you need some help…
I’ve seen people though in silver/diamond raging saying their teams keep them because when yes some teams do… but most don’t. especially the lower you go if you can take people out you should easily be able to sway team fights in your advantage.
unless you sticky bomb tanks constantly like dafran while going on a 0-8 loss streak and bashing people and being super toxic while horribly under performing on tracer and rage throwing/dying while complaining about his team.

Literally no one has ever said that. There are plenty of legitimate things to argue about on these forums; you don’t need to create a straw man to argue against.

This is too hard to fit inside their brain, they want their own sandbox, with silver border, hard griefing there, and nobody bothers them Kappa. They deserve it tbh. I mean, you don’t go to gm, gm come at you.
I would agree if I didn’t see streamer after streamer get stuck at plat and have to completely abandon good play to get out.
Like clearly it’s not just a pleb thing.
“Unranked to gm mercy only” taking a whole month to a dedicated player with ample time to do so isn’t the same as a normal person with school or work and unable to fart around in a lower tank for days on end and measure exactly what they need to do to climb with this weird rank

Mercy is a different story. Just difficult to climb with.
I’ve seen really good Mercys in plat.
I remember one I duo’d from high plat to low master without a single loss 22-0 record.
But even then mm, smurfs, etc aren’t keeping you in a low rank. Its your hero and your own gameplay.
Simple, people that don’t hold themselves accountable but always insist on blaming others for their short comings never improve.
Also it’s a well known “psychology” I guess? That the less someone tends to know about something the more they tend to overestimate their own knowledge about it, there’s a bell curve to how much people know to their knowledge of said topic.
A novice that doesn’t understand the nuances of a subject and thus doesn’t even realize the depth thinks they know almost everything, someone that knows a great deal tends to underestimate themselves because they know and understand that depth so they know they have room to grow, and someone who’s mastered a subject is back to confident because they fully understand it.
Overwatch is a team game and there are certain elements with teammates that are outside of your control but that’s all the more reason to focus on yourself and improve on the aspects you have control over, however the majority tend to focus on the parts they can’t because holding oneself accountable is a difficult thing to do or accept.

But they do?
“Diamond smurfs are keeping me in plat!!!”
Like dude if you were playing at a higher than plat level, let’s say diamond, then it would be 5 plat + 1 dia on both sides and you could win. But you aren’t!
Smurfs by definition can’t hold you in a lower rank.
