They don’t want people gaming the system with their friends. It’s supposed to be a system that measures how well you work with people you don’t know.
Fair enough. But, sometimes, playing with randoms just doesn’t work. Especially, in Comp.
I tried solo queuing for Comp. And I watched my SR plummet, due to: Throwers, Leavers, Trolls, Team mates that didn’t use voice chat or the communication wheel, teammates that refused to play their role properly (never using a Barrier as Rein or not healing as Moira, for example), teammates that refused to play the objective and instead played Comp like Team Deathmatch, teams with 3-5 DPS players (forcing me to Solo Tank or Solo Heal) etc.
Matches shouldn’t be this inconsistent. Not in a so called “Competitive” game mode. And, until they’re more consistent, I’ll be playing with Friends. But, that shouldn’t affect my Endorsement level. If I’m doing “all the right things”, I should be getting Endorsed and be able to keep my Endorsement level, regardless of whom I’m playing with.
Edit: Also, what about those at the really high ranks? Like, GM? The player base up there is pretty small. You play with/against a lot of the same people. So, I would imagine it’s hard to maintain Endorsement level that high up.
So, what? They’re supposed to be punished for being a skilled player? Thats a system flaw, in my opinion.
You get reported for anything at all - even for no reason - your endorsement meter will go down.
Losing 50 SR to make 4 DPS players lose 25 SR is a net win in my book, I am not going to worry about an arbitrary number as opposed to not losing my time to four people who expect to get carried by the two people willing to flex on the team. 1/4/1 has one of the lowest %2win chance on ladder, I am not going to sit thru a 30 minute 2cp match baby sitting DPS one tricks over going to arcade for 10 minutes and then playing the bad teammate lottery again.
A function where decay stops/decreases if you play multiple matches with the same group would be nice. You wouldn’t get more endorsements from the same people, but you also wouldn’t feel penalized for grouping up.
If I stick to solo queue QP and flex to support or tank every match, I easily maintain level 4. When I play LFG, which is usually a more enjoyable experience, I drop down to 3 again, even if I still keep flexing to support/tank.
Just feels weird to have good matches and see your endorsement level drop anyways.
So, in your philosophy, if you and I were in a match together:
I go Healer
4 people go DPS
Then, you just go: “peace out” and bail
Uh… Huh. Do you not see how thats a big “middle finger” to me? Or, do you just not care?
All I can say to that is: Wow
I guess, here’s hoping you leave early enough so the match just ends and no one is penalized. But, if you do it after that period, I think thats a pretty jerk move.
As I said, QP or Arcade, go nuts. We have backfill for that. It doesn’t exist in Comp. So, you just (almost) guaranteed a loss for 5 people, because you wouldn’t even try and “play ball”… Neat…
And people wonder why I stopped solo queuing for Comp…
Edit: For the record, I’m not condoning 4 people picking DPS. But, you know what they say about two wrongs, or in this case, five…
It would be nice if they could figure out a way to make that work without ruining the system by allowing people to game it with friends
I saw a 5 once. Was a very polite nice chap, even when you lost a game with him you got a pat on the back. That’s great, but no matter how nice you are, being an actual good team member is what endorsement should be for. You can climb it fast off of mics alone. The moment I flexed to dps cause I ran into a match we’re we actually needed one, I went down to rank 3 for the first time. I have made sure to endorse my dps just as much as my support and tanks.
No, I wait until the timer so the 4 dps take the SR penalty, the 1 support will lose 25 SR regardless so I view it as I take a 50 SR hit to save his time and not reinforce the DPS one trick culture by being a martyr.
Blizzard isn’t going to do anything to make the game any better for you, half a dozen loot boxes a month is worthless at any time other than an event and you can just ramp your level from 1 to 3 the week before.
or, crazy thought, you pick a Tank, get on voice chat, and try to coordinate with the Support player and any willing of the 4 DPS and at least try and win. At the end, even if we lose, at least you can say you only lost 25 SR for your efforts, instead of 50. And, I can say I got some good XP towards my next box (because I care about the cosmetics).
As I said before, I’m not condoning the 4 DPS insta locking. Not willing to switch, especially, in Comp, is a bit selfish. But, what you’re doing is just as bad. And, while you may think you’re “sticking it to the bad ole DPS players”, in reality, they probably care about as much as you do. And the only person you’re really punishing is the person trying to play the game properly and play for the team (players like me). And, that’s not cool, mate.
Agree to disagree, once you pass +1000 hours of OW those things simply have no value to you anymore and you’re just enduring bad behavior for a pat on the head. You’ll get the same amount of XP in the next game and have a better chance of a positive play experience.
Endorsements aren’t an accurate assessment to determine a person’s likelihood of toxicity due to the fact that everyone starts off at lvl 1. I’ve level 1s and 2s who were cooperative and lvl 4s whose only contribution was starting arguments with the team.
This isn’t true actually, I gave up Overwatch for nearly the duration of season 14, and I stayed at 3
All to get loot boxes of duplicates… faster… what’s amazing to me is seeing people with 5’s… you must be in daily for like four hours to maintain that…
Just ignore that endorsment level stuff, in the end is only a number, If in qp I have the option to leave then I leave.
Since I won’t stay in a game where someone keep pointing my mistakes (if I want a coaching I will ask bro)
Or 5 dps and I have to go healer or tank for them.
So I will ignore that stuff (i know it give loot boxes at some point… but loot boxes are pointless past a certain level).
I’ve met people with level 3 endorsements who said they were throwing to bronze and then jumped off the map all game.
I find level 4 really easy to hold and I don’t play a ton.
Also there’s no endorsements for a lot of the Arcade modes, which I don’t get, you can still play well/ be a good teammate even if the modes are technically considered more casual.
The only purpose of the endorsement system is for the main tank to shake hands with the enemy main tank.
I got to level 4 quickly after the endorsement level came out from playing qp. I held it for a long time then all of a sudden a few months later it starts dropping constantly going between 3 and 4 every day or every other day at least lol. It still happens to this day to the point that i just had to completely stop caring about my endorsement level cuz it was just changing so constantly and there was no logic to it or point in caring about it.
However, one thing I find funny is the second I drop to level 3 I’ll get my endorsement awards. This literally happened to me yesterday. I started playing at level 4, dropped to level 3 after a few games, played a few more games then closed the game and opened it again and got my endorsement rewards. The funny thing is I got back to endorsement level 4 at the end of the night. I mean I don’t really care about getting one extra loot box but it’s just something I noticed.
Moral of the story is it’s incredibly unstable and if you care about maintaining level 4 you’re setting yourself up for disappointment lol
